Phoenix Athletic are on the road today as we face Greenisland II in the first round of the fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup 🏆

We’re coming up against a club with a fantastic reputation for developing young talent. Greenisland FC were formed in 1995, and players including Jonny Evans, Corry Evans, Craig Cathcart and Michael Smith all came through their youth setup before going on to represent Northern Ireland. More recently, Dale Taylor, Charlie Allen and Jack Patterson have also developed at the club.

That shows the size of the challenge facing our lads today—but it’s a great opportunity to test ourselves against a club with such a strong footballing background! 💪

🔥 PHOENIX GIRLS PUTTING IN THE HARD WORK! 🔥

What an unbelievable fitness session from the girls! 💪⚽

From start to finish, their effort, determination and teamwork were absolutely brilliant. They pushed through every exercise, encouraged one another and never stopped working.

These sessions aren’t just building fitness—they’re building strength, confidence, discipline and togetherness that will carry onto the football pitch.

Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but these girls continue to show up, work hard and improve together. We couldn’t be prouder of every one of them! ❤️🖤

⚽ Phoenix Flames 2014s 6–1 Tristar Colts

The girls got off to a flying start! Great work between Harper and Cara Doherty down the right ended with a brilliant cross into Dakota, who made no mistake and found the back of the net.

Lola Downey doubled the lead with a fantastic long-range strike before another lovely move allowed Harper to finish like a true striker.

Half-time: Phoenix 3–0 Tristar

Phoenix made a change at the break, with Rhia McNutt coming on and producing a brilliant turn before calmly slipping the ball past the Tristar keeper.

Emma Reid then scored her first goal for the 2014s, showing great feet before curling a beautiful finish into the bottom corner! 👏🔥

Tristar pulled one back after some good play, but Dakota completed her brace when she met another excellent cross and fired home Phoenix’s sixth.

Orlaigh and Abbie were outstanding in defence, including two brilliant clearances off the line. Wee Brógáin was an absolute machine in midfield, while Dakota and “Shorty” Doherty never stopped working up and down the wings! 💪

An excellent all-round performance from the girls, who played some fantastic football. All those training sessions are really starting to pay off! ❤️🖤

Men's NWJL Season Kick off tomorrow

We would like to wish both our men's teams the very best for the season ahead as both sides kick off their seasons tomorrow.

It's been a busy summer for our men's group with the change of management. We would like to introduce Mark Kelly as the first team manager. Mark is a past player who has stepped up in recent years managing our Saturday morning team and has deservedly been promoted to first team manager,Barry McMenamin and Barry Nixon have been playing with our men's team now for a few years and they will now take in the roles as our reserve team managers, and the management team have done a brilliant job in recent weeks gathering together 2 strong squads and training has been going really well with players really putting in the hard work in preparation for their first competitive games in the NWJL.

We are also proud to announce that Liam McCormick has been named as our club captain. Liam has returned to us following spells at Derry City u19s and Greencastle FC. Liam joined Phoenix Athletic as a young boy playing in our under age teams for several years before getting an opportunity at Derry City u19s and this club means a lot to him. He is a fantastic role model for all our younger players with a great attitude to match his ability.

We would also like to thank the outgoing management team of Chris McGarrigle, Keith McLaren and John McDaid who have been extremely committed over the past 2 seasons doing a great job with some great Cup runs and signed off last week picking up a well deserved win at the brandywell lifting the Jimbo Crossan Cup. Thanks lads for all your dedication, it's greatly appreciated. We are delighted that the lads will be staying on to help our youth teams.

Our Phoenix 2011/2012 Girls are looking to add a few fresh faces to an already established squad.

We’re looking for girls who have previous football experience, are comfortable on the ball and are ready to come in, compete, train hard and continue developing with the group. 💪⚽

The girls compete in:

⚽ D&D Harry Gregg League
🏆 Cup competitions
🔥 Foyle Cup
⚽ Plus other tournaments and friendly fixtures throughout the season

If your daughter is a 2011 or 2012 player and is looking for a new challenge with plenty of football, we’d love to hear from you.

Phoenix Girls 2016s are delighted to announce that our Thursday training sessions are moving to Ballymagroarty 3G, beside the park and behind the Community Centre.

📍 Tuesday: Brooke Park
🕕 6:00–7:00pm

📍 Thursday: Ballymagroarty 3G
🕔 5:00–6:00pm

The move gives us access to two-thirds of the big 3G pitch, providing the girls with much more space and helping us deliver even better training sessions.

🙋‍♀️ NEW PLAYERS WELCOME!

We would love to welcome girls born in 2016 from Ballymagroarty and the surrounding areas who would like to join the team or come along and try football.

No previous experience is needed—just come along, have fun, make new friends and enjoy playing football in a friendly, development-focused environment.
