Newell Academy 2015s returned to action today against Core Soccer Academy in a tightly contested game. โšฝ๏ธ

There was little to separate the sides in the opening half, with Dillon coming closest for Newell as his quick snapshot flashed just past the far post.

Core began to apply more pressure after the break, but the Newell backline stood strong. Crossan was called into action on several occasions and produced some excellent saves to keep Core at bay. ๐Ÿงค๐Ÿ‘

A disciplined performance from the boys, with little between the two sides as the points were shared.

A decent first-half display from the young Newell team, with Eoghan Smith in goals making a few excellent saves to keep Newell in the game.

Harps came out stronger in the second half and, unfortunately, Newell couldnโ€™t match their finishing when chances came their way.

Conor Gillen got Newell on the scoresheet with a fantastic headed goal from a Newell corner. However, Harpsโ€™ quick breaks proved decisive as they went on to secure a good victory.

A great morning for our 2019s as they returned to D&D action at Bay Road against a hard-working Tristar side.

The boys produced a really positive performance, particularly enjoying the opportunity to take players on in 1v1 situations. They were regularly denied by a Tristar goalkeeper in inspired form, but still managed to score a number of eye-catching goals throughout the game.

Most importantly, both sets of players played the game in great spirits and made it an enjoyable morning of football for everyone.

A fantastic morning for our 2018 boys as they took on Don Boscoโ€™s, coming away with a well-deserved victory! ๐Ÿ‘

The boys worked hard showing great energy, teamwork and some lovely football throughout the game. There were plenty of excellent passages of play, great attacking moves and brilliant individual moments.

โšฝ๏ธ A winning return to D&D action for our 2016 boys! ๐Ÿ”ดโšซ๏ธ

The boys ran out 4-1 winners against Trojans in an excellent return to D&D action.

As per usual with this group, their excellent and exciting attacking prowess was on show from the first whistle. They put together some lovely patterns of play throughout the afternoon and created plenty of chances.

Credit must also go to the Trojans goalkeeper, who produced an outstanding performance and, on another day, could easily have kept the scoreline much closer.

A fantastic performance from the boys well done lads! ๐Ÿ‘โšฝ๏ธ

A huge thank you to the Maxwell family and everyone at Wee Derry Shot for their incredible support of Newell Academy during this year's Super Cup NI.

As a proud family-run business at the heart of our local community, they stepped forward to back a voluntary grassroots club as we prepared to compete against some of the world's leading professional academies at one of the most prestigious youth football tournaments.

Their sponsorship ensured our young players could represent Newell Academy with pride, confidence and professionalism, never feeling they were at a disadvantage to any club they faced.
