No child should ever feel unsafe.

I’ve been receiving a growing number of messages from parents in the Limavady area whose sons and daughters are being bullied verbally, physically, and emotionally. As a father of three these messages hit hard. It’s gut-wrenching to know that any child is being threatened or hurt.

I can help.

I’ve been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over a decade and it’s widely recognised as one of the most effective martial arts for real world self-defence. More importantly the benefits go far beyond physical protection.

Children who train develop:

• Genuine confidence
• Discipline and focus
• Respect for themselves and others
• The ability to stay calm under pressure

When a child knows they can protect themselves the fear starts to fade and that’s when real growth begins.

Today marks an important milestone for our club as we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our members.

First, a huge congratulations to Oran, James, and Caolàn for earning your purple belts! This achievement reflects not only your technical skill but also your commitment to growth in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You’ve shown determination on the mats, and it’s great to see your progress recognized.

Additionally, we want to give a big shoutout to Jonny Lynn and Kyle Murphy for reaching the brown belt level. This is a significant accomplishment that showcases your dedication and perseverance. Your journey serves as an inspiration to everyone in the academy.

Years ago, having just one female training in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club was a rarity. Fast forward to today, and we’re witnessing an incredible surge in female membership across gyms nationwide!

The female only open mat is more than just a training session it’s a space where women can connect, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

At Team Torres we’re proud to host a female only open mat every last Sunday of the month.
