🚨 BBQ POST — ONLY 5 DAYS LATE! 🚨

We’d like to apologise for the slight delay in getting this post up… apparently recovering from an Annual Members BBQ takes longer than expected. 😂🍔🔥

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came along to the Annual Members BBQ on 22nd August! 🥳

We hope you all had a cracking time, enjoyed the food, had a few laughs and managed to avoid any serious incidents involving sausages, BBQ tongs or questionable cooking techniques. 🌭😂

A massive thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, and an extra-special thank you to:

🔥 Dan J – Rising Sun Pub
🔥 Dan B
🔥 Neil E
🔥 Steve H
🔥 Steve W
🔥 Jacob B

Thank you all for helping run the BBQ and somehow managing to keep things mostly smooth sailing.

We say mostly because it was a BBQ… there was always going to be at least one moment of “WHO’S SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING THAT?!” 😂🔥

And of course…

🎂🥳 HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY TO NEIL! 🥳🎂

HALF A CENTURY! 🎉

50 years young and still voluntarily turning up to stand next to a hot BBQ. That’s commitment. 😂

We hope you had a brilliant birthday, Neil — although we're pretty sure the real present was making everyone else remember that you’re now officially half a century old! 😜

🎣 NEXT EVENT: PIER COMP — 12/09/2026 🏆

But don't worry, we're not making you wait that long for more fun…

👀 There are already talks of other events happening in between, so keep your eyes peeled and your calendars ready!

Thanks again to everyone who came, helped out, ate, drank, laughed and generally contributed to making the day a great one.

Until next time… keep fishing, keep smiling, and remember: the BBQ might be over, but the smell of burnt sausages will live on forever. 😂🔥🎣

🇳🇴 Norway Fishing Trip – Skervøy Fiske Camp 🎣

Some of our members recently returned from an incredible trip to Skervøy Fiske Camp, Norway, and what a trip it was!

The fishing was absolutely fantastic, with plenty of 6lb–10lb cod—the quality and numbers were a huge step up from what we’re used to in the UK.

We also landed around five halibut, including an unbelievable 95lb monster caught by Neil – the biggest halibut we’ve ever caught! 👏🎉

The catches didn’t stop there either. We had some lovely dabs and plaice, along with plenty of ling and haddock—the biggest we’ve ever seen! We even managed to catch a rather ugly wolffish, as well as a whiting to round things off.

A brilliant trip with great company, unforgettable fishing, and memories that will last a lifetime. Well done to everyone who went, and a special congratulations to Neil on that record-breaking 95lb halibut!

🎣 Charter Boat Trip Success – 30th May 2026 🎣 Charter Boat Trip Success – 30th May 2026 🎣

What a fantastic day out on the water!

On 30th May, our members headed out of Ramsgate aboard the charter boat Better Days, and it certainly lived up to its name. A great boat with a great skipper who knew exactly where the fish were hiding!

The fishing was excellent throughout the trip, with plenty of catches including dogfish, smooth hounds, mackerel, and lots of bass. More importantly, there were plenty of laughs, great company, and a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish.

A huge thank you to the skipper of Better Days for helping make the trip such a success.

If you're looking to join a friendly and active angling club, we'd love to welcome you. Join us today: https://www.kingsdownanglingclub.com/

And if you're considering a charter fishing trip from Ramsgate, we highly recommend Better Days Charter for a fantastic day on the water.

Tight lines and we look forward to seeing you on the next trip! 🎣

🎣 Fishing Comp Today — Survived… Somehow! 🌧️😂

Fair play to the absolute madmen who stood in the pouring rain for hours today pretending they were “having fun” while slowly turning into seaweed themselves. 🌧️🌊

Despite the weather trying its best to send everyone home early, there were still some cracking catches:
🐟 Plenty of dogfish about
🏆 Mark took biggest flat fish with a 38cm thornback ray
🏆 Jon landed the longest fish with a 58cm dogfish

Jon also managed to catch a strap conger eel — which looked like something dragged straight out of a nightmare — and got so excited he launched another cast immediately… only to snap his hooks and bait clean off into the sea. Safe to say the excitement got the better of him. 😂🎣

Massive thanks to some of the new members who came down and gave it a go — if you can survive today’s weather, you’ll fit right in with this club!

🚤 Next event: Charter Boat Trip — 30th May

What a fantastic AGM tonight! It was great to see so many people there — thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a brilliant evening.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get any photos… we were too busy enjoying the pizza! 🍕

A special thank you to the The Rising Sun Pub — especially Dan and Toni — for once again letting us host our AGM there this year, as well as serving the drinks and providing such high-quality food throughout the evening. Your support is hugely appreciated!

Here’s to another great year ahead!

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE – KINGSDOWN BOAT RAMP ⚠️

Unfortunately, the Kingsdown boat ramp is now considered unsafe after suffering further damage over the last few days.

For a long time, small repairs and maintenance were delayed instead of being properly dealt with. Because of this lack of action and investment from the council, the damage has now become much worse.

In simple terms — what could have been fixed earlier for a smaller cost has now turned into a far bigger and more expensive problem.

This ramp is important to local anglers, boat users, residents, and visitors, and it’s disappointing to see it reach this stage through neglect.

We hope urgent action is now taken before the situation deteriorates even further.
