Firm footwork advocate over here ๐๐ผ
I think coming from a baller background really drilled into me the importance of sequence and why we do exercises in certain orders to build the body through a class, and like we'd do pliรฉs first in ballet, I always do footwork first in a reformer class.
It's a staple exercise and for good reason, it warms up the ankle joint, prepares the legs, gives us an opportunity to think about our breathing, plus allows us as instructors to observe what's happening in the room.
It can also be incredibly challenging when done well - trying to stabilise the ankle, knee and pelvis, while moving the carriage with control, working through a variety of foot positions and then introducing tempo? The perfect start to class in my book! ๐๐ป
