Brixham Table Tennis Club Est. 1993, our club is open to anyone wanting to play whether new to the game or experienced players returning to the sport. Fancy a challenge?

Every year we field a number of teams in the South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League. Established in 1993 Brixham Table Tennis Club is held 6PM - 9PM every Monday night at Brixham College Sports Centre, Lytes Road, Brixham TQ5 9SN (free parking is available at the Lytes Road car park next to the sports centre). The sessions are open to anyone interested in table tennis whether completely new to t

he game, players from elsewhere looking for a new club or those considering picking up a bat again after time away. Bats are available for use & coaching is on hand from Table Tennis England accredited coaches. A variety of ages, abilities & experience levels play at our club from those who attend simply for fun to those who play in the local South Devon and Torbay Table Tennis League. We only charge £5 for each three hour session, though attendees are more than welcome to donate larger sums, but if it's your first time at the club your first session is free.

This Monday 20th July we will be playing Table Tennis from 6pm to 9pm at Brixham College Sports Centre, please check with Thinking Fitness at Brixham for car parking details at the sports centre.
Our tables shall be set up in "the lower hall" at the end of the centre corridor, Table Tennis England accredited coaching will be available for those in attendance & if it's your first time at our club there's no charge! (£5 per session thereafter).

Never played table tennis or has it been "some time" since you picked up a bat?

We have spare bats available for use & our club's comprised of players of varying ability & ages, from those starting out & our junior players to more experienced & veteran players, so we will pair you up with someone of similar skill level as an introduction/re-introduction to the game.

Our sessions are loosely structured to start off with practice & drills that vary depending on who practices with who - what needs to be worked on & improved such as serving technique, smash technique, how to chop, block, drive... or what a player is ready to have introduced to their game. As the session progresses we'll play games & matches, have mini-tournaments, play doubles & maybe even end the session with "Top Table" where all players, irrespective of their ability, have the chance to play against anyone else depending on who rises & falls in the "Top Table" ranks.

PLEASE NOTE: WORKS TO IMPROVE THE SPORTS CENTRE WILL BE TAKING PLACE THIS MONTH & THE LOWER SPORTS HALL WILL BE CLOSED 22nd JULY – 5th AUGUST MEANING THERE WILL BE NO TABLE TENNIS ON MONDAY 27th JULY & MONDAY 3rd AUGUST.

A most generous donation of memorabilia for the archives has been received from Karenza and Ken Mathews - can you provide any extra information about these photos?

As for the picture? We have been assured by an "etheric investigator" that it displays how the Fairies prepare for a game of Table Tennis... what rules they follow? Fairy Rules... meaning some play as we would here on this mortal coil whilst others, the more mischievous & evil ones, play as they please & it's best not to challenge them for a "knock", trouble is with some Fairies they can appear to be good Fairies when they are in fact evil!!! Fancy seeing if you can best them? You may have your chance if you come along to our Monday sessions!

Following on from our recent discovery of a Fairy inside the Table Tennis ball we have learned that the famous Cottingley Fairies also played Table Tennis!!! If you look closely at this photo taken back in 1917 you will see the Fairy challenging Elsie Wright to a match!!! No results were recorded for this battle & we cannot say what rules were followed but no doubt it would have been a game to test the very greatest Table Tennis players of any time, past, present or future!

We will be playing Table Tennis this coming Monday 15th June from 6pm to 9pm at Brixham College Sports Centre SMASHING CHOPPING BLOCKING SPINNING DRIVING & FLOATING will be in full worldly & etheric, or as near as possible, effect!

Please check with Thinking Fitness at Brixham for car parking details at the sports centre.

Some liken Table Tennis to a martial art as all manner of stances & positions of attack & defence akin to those seen in pugilist pursuits can be made by players throughout the game & as the playing area of the tables is quite small it verges on a "close-contact" kind of sport putting hand-eye co-ordination to the test like no other game whether it's a fast or slower game.

Last week we discovered something... Table Tennis balls are NOT simply full of air!!! What makes them so magical as a ball, allowing for a wondrous array of playing styles making use of the serve, return, chop, block, drive, spin & smash, is that each ball contains a fairy & not just any kind of fairy but a Table Tennis Fairy (TTF) & Table Tennis Fairies are dedicated to the art of Table Tennis but shall only favour a Table Tennis player if they are of pure heart, unimpeachable character & dedicated to playing their best win or lose within the rules.

If you would like to see if you're worthy of the Table Tennis Fairy's graces then we'll be playing Table Tennis from 6pm to 9pm at Brixham College Sports Centre this Monday 8th June (as we do every Monday unless otherwise stated here), please check with Thinking Fitness at Brixham for car parking details at the sports centre.

Our tables shall be set up in "the lower hall" at the end of the centre corridor, Table Tennis England accredited coaching will be available for those in attendance & if it's your first time at our club there's no charge! (£5 per session thereafter).

We RETURN on Monday 1st June to play Table Tennis once again!

Table Tennis IS the most versatile bat & ball game due to the ball being "barely there at all" - it's just a thin shell filled with air that allows a broad variety of playing styles, such as use of top, back & side spins to a degree not possible with other bat/ball combination sports. Players will meet opponents potentially capable of all sorts of styles of play that perhaps they are not - though in turn they will potentially be capable of all sorts of things too, this results in a great range of possible practice & game play experiences unlike any other bat & ball game!

Some liken Table Tennis to a martial art as all manner of stances & positions of attack & defence akin to those seen in pugilist pursuits can be made by players, again to a degree that other bat & ball games do not provide the chance to display... though remember NO HANDS ON THE TABLE AT ANY TIME!!!

Never played table tennis or has it been "some time" since you picked up a bat?
