Last week we had a trip out of the county to visit a sawmill after they got in touch saying they had a bit of oak that might be of interest.
After putting through the sawmill the clean grain showed and we decided that the slabs cut will be ideal for grown oak stems of boats (in a few years after it's had time to season mind đŸ˜…)

Bit late posting these, but a few weeks ago St Gorran's new gig 'Porthust' was visited by the CPGA standards team and given the seal of approval, making it gig number 239.
She was then placed on her trailer and taken to her new home.
The official launch is set for 0900 December 15 2024 in Gorran harbour.

A project we've been working on behind the scenes recently.
The customer requested a 'characterful' dining table to comfortably seat upto 12, without having to straddle the table legs.
The outcome, this 1.2m x 3.4m knotty oak table, with cast iron legs to ground the rustic look, fitting the room perfectly.

Out of the workshop this week carrying out some much needed repairs to Clovelly pilot gig.
New ribs steamed and nailed in, and a new section added to the bottom of the rudder where it's been worn away on the beach.
Some fresh coats of paint and she'll be looking, and feeling, as good as new.

Busy few weeks here, with an expansion to a 2nd workshop next door to the current. New concrete floor laid, thanks James Poulson, with the roof and doors insulated and boarded.
This new space will allow us to bring in boats on their trailers for light repairs and maintenance.

New deckboards added to the gig to give it a new lease of life and to add to the compliment the fresh paint job.

Yesterday saw the blessing and launch of my second, and Brixham Gig Club's new gig 'Florence'.
Was lovely to see so many people on the slip way, and to see the gig itself shining in the unexpected sunshine!

Hope to see her on the circuit and that the club have many happy years of racing with her.
