We are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Richie Smallwood ⛽️

The 35-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Rovers for the 2026/27 campaign.

The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan from Tranmere Rovers with the Pirates, playing 14 times in Sky Bet League Two.

We will travel to Scotland as part of our pre-season preparations for the 2026/27 campaign.

Steve Evans' Pirates will head to St Andrews towards the conclusion of the summer schedule, travelling north on Wednesday 29 July and returning to Bristol on Monday 3 August.

Rovers will face five days of intense work and training at the high-end facility as the 2026/27 season approaches its launch fixture. As part of the trip, the Club will play a minimum of one fixture in the area, with opponents and subsequent ticketing information to be determined nearer the time.

The camp in Scotland comes towards the end of a pre-season schedule which has already seen fixtures away to Salisbury, Yeovil Town, Forest Green Rovers and Yate Town confirmed for the Pirates.

Home pre-season fixtures for the 2026/27 campaign will also be confirmed imminently.

More information about pre-season fixtures in Scotland and other pre-season games will be available in due course.
