We have space for another couple to join our small-group private classes for experienced dancers (intermediate or above). Sessions will take place on Mondays 6–8 p.m. at Ashton Park School, BS3, roughly fortnightly but avoiding bank holidays. The cost will be £20–£25 per person per session, depending on numbers attending.

We are delighted to welcome Jenny Thomas to Bristol for a one-day Lindy Hop workshop for LEADS AND FOLLOWS levels intermediate and above. Jenny is a world-renowned dancer and choreographer, recently noted for her top-scoring Charleston and Salsa routines on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Her teaching is inspirational, supportive and fun!

It's with great pleasure and excitement that we are announcing the return of our weekend intensive workshops!

For levels improver and above.

Improver dancers: you’ve taken classes for a few months and know basic 6- and 8-count moves; you enjoy social dancing and are keen to learn more.
Experienced dancers: you've taken classes for a year or more and are happy to swing out with different partners at a variety of tempos.

Focusing on natural movement and connection, we will work in detail on the mechanics of Lindy Turns and how to make your social dancing controlled and dynamic.

In this Intensive, we’ll be covering the side-exit and rear-exit Lindy Turns, and variations including Outside Turn, Slides and Texas Tommy.

Two and a half hours of teaching and guided practice for only £20.

Email [email protected] to book, saying whether you wish to take part as a lead or follow (we may need to operate a waiting list, so best to book with a partner if you can).

This will be a great opportunity to develop and refine your skills, with a strong focus on core techniques, the interplay between lead and follow, and the freedom to express yourself within the dance.

These two know a thing or two about swing!

SMALL GROUP PRIVATE CLASSES

Thanks to everyone who filled in our questionnaire and expressed an interest in small, focused private classes. We have now found a venue and booked some time, so we would like to invite you to attend!

Please reply promptly, as places will be on a first come, first served basis, and are very limited...

We will begin with a two-session short course for experienced dancers (you’ve taken classes for a year or more and are happy to swing out with different partners at a variety of tempos).

Based on your responses and on studio availability, we have elected to run the classes on Thursdays, 7pm-9pm at Wildcat Studio on Gloucester Road, opposite the Tinto Lounge.

Cost would be £20 per person, per session for 3 or 4 couples (or £30 per person, per session if there are only 2 couples). You would need to sign on with a partner ideally - let us know if this is a challenge, we may be able to assist.

The dates are:
Group 1
Thursday November 10th, 7-9 pm
Thursday November 24th, 7-9 pm

Group 2
Thursday November 17th, 7-9 pm
Thursday December 1st, 7-9 pm

The idea is that you will have a session every two weeks, so that we can have two alternating classes and you have time to practise between sessions. We will be focusing on your personal development and giving you guidance that will move your dancing forward, and make it more enjoyable.

Expect technique tightening and lots about connection, frame, travel, rhythm and momentum. Also, new moves and variations, and practice in combining the various Lindy moves into a jazz that lets you express your own true self.😀
