This programme will continue over the coming months in schools across Wales bringing experienced military veterans into schools to deliver health, well-being, and resilience sessions, focusing particularly on schools with a high number of Service children. Working closely with SSCE Cymru ensures that support reaches the right young people and communities where it can make the greatest impact.
A key element of the programme is empowering Service children themselves to become peer leaders within each school. By working alongside our trained veteran instructors and veteran volunteers, they will develop leadership skills, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of belonging within both school and Armed Forces communities.
We are also delighted to be collaborating with wider community partners, including regional Armed Forces groups and the Regional Engagement Team at 160 Brigade in Brecon, whose support will be invaluable in delivery and outreach.
Forces Fitness will lead on sourcing, training, and coordinating military veterans to ensure high quality sessions that support physical health, mental well-being and personal resilience across diverse educational settings.
This programme represents meaningful, community led support, strengthening connections, promoting well-being, and empowering military families across Wales.
Thank you to everyone involved for their continued collaboration and commitment to supporting our Armed Forces community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this work will create in schools and communities across Wales.
