Over the past two weeks, PTS Instructor, Mark Crozier has been delivering the NPORS Mobile Crane Course at Belfast Harbour, equipping delegates with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to operate mobile cranes safely and competently.

We still have a few spaces remaining on our upcoming NPORS Appointed Person Refresher Course, taking place 20th–21st April.

This refresher course is designed to update and maintain the knowledge and competence of individuals responsible for planning and managing lifting operations safely.

During the course, delegates will cover key areas including:
✔ Roles and responsibilities within lifting operations
✔ Planning and managing safe lifting operations, including lift plans
✔ Selecting the correct cranes and lifting accessories for specific lifts
✔ Understanding equipment inspection, maintenance and safety requirements
✔ Hazard awareness, exclusion zones and safe site access for lifting activities

Recently, PTS had the pleasure of visiting Liverpool Cruise Terminal to deliver training to our Level 3 Port Supervision learners.

The Level 3 Diploma in Supervision of Ports & Maritime Operations is designed to develop the skills of individuals responsible for supervising the operational activities associated with the transfer of cargo/passengers between a vessel and a cargo storage area/passenger terminal.

This qualification supports supervisors in building strong leadership, safety awareness, and operational knowledge within busy port environments.

It’s T-Level Thursday! 🎉

At PTS, we’re proud to support Bede Academy by providing T-Level work placements that give students meaningful, real-world experience to support their progression into employment.

Following a successful interview process, Alex and Liam (pictured below) will be joining PTS for a four-week placement in March. During their time with us, they’ll gain valuable insight into the role Port Training Services plays in supporting the industry, as well as a first-hand look at what it’s like to work in the port sector and the wide range of career opportunities it offers.

We’re looking forward to welcoming them to the team!
