Royal Northumberland Yacht Club Based at South Harbour, Blyth, Northumberland we have over 650 members worldwide. We offer mooring and boatyard facilities for members and visitors.

The bar serves excellent food and drink. Social evenings are organised regularly as well as room hire for members private functions.

As the sun sets on our summer season our penultimate race was conducted under very testing conditions where only three boats started and two finished!

So let’s now focus on next Saturday the 26th of September. Our final fling providing the very last race of this season…. So scrub your hulls, check you sheets, get your gear on and enjoy some great competition with an 1100hrs briefing and a noon start.

Your course will let you say goodbye to some our commonly visited marks on a great afternoon … possibly in sunshine???

Please ignore the previous sailing instructions for the Bondicar race tomorrow.

New instructions are start on the start line head to Hauxley reef mark turning on it to port. Head back to start line.

Briefing 1000 hrs

Start time 1100
Finish close at 1600

Self time

Last couple of boats to lift the marks and bring them in.

Skippers to avoid all rocks and reefs.

So racers Saturdays course will be from a start/finish line east of the fairway, thereto the uni bouy leaving it to port, thereto the cresswell skerries buoy left to port, thereto a turn around the Hauxley head marker buoy leaving it to port, thence returning south leaving both the Cresswel and uni bouy to stbd finishing at the start line self timed.

We are using the hauxley head marker because it is a laid mark and the next significant and material mark approx 0.9 miles north of the Bondicar bush.

Westerlies are forecast so enjoy!

Our brand new green and red racing mark flags…. Yes the new ones are red!

Kindly produced and donated by our member Steve Douthwaite. Steve is perpetually producing quality and individually engineered racing and cruising sails, alongside the canvas repairs and manufacture of all our boating requirements. We are lucky to have such a skilled sail making wizard as a local resources.

And all delivered as promised before the regatta!

Under a thunderous sky the RNYC Summer racing fleet ventured forth into the unknown to compete race 14 of the series.

The wind bought by the heavy clouds took that moment to drop to 3-4 kts as the start arrived and the fleet staggered over the line.

The wind was very fluky and arrived and disappear without warning. On Dreamcatcher this was when we regretted filling all tanks at the weekend and 80% of the cruising paraphernalia distributed over the boat. Only three boats managed to complete at least a lap within the time window well done to those who did with Beluga II taking the honours.

With only two races left Phoebe appears to be working on a good lead position but can Beluga or Opus Two nick it over these final races.

Tense stuff guys bring it on.
