Most people just think of it as a normal night at the races, but Dunstall Park holds some of the wildest history in UK sports:
️⃣ The UK’s First Under Lights: Wolverhampton racecourse became Britain’s first-ever floodlit racecourse. 💡
️⃣ It Was a Historic Airfield: Long before the horses took over, it hosted the Midlands Aero Club’s very first Air Show in 1910! ✈️
️⃣ Royal Reopening: Following a massive modernisation overhaul, the newly revamped course was officially reopened by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in January 1994. 👑
️⃣ Launchpad for Champions: The track is highly regarded by top trainers as a proving ground for elite young talent, Group 1 superstars like Pinatubo and Kalpana both started their legendary racing careers right here. 🏆
️⃣ Two Sports, One Track: It is the only venue in Great Britain where you can watch both horse racing AND greyhound racing at the exact same site! 🐕🐎
