A dreadfully sad week for the equestrian world as we lose two of its true gentlemen: Olympic dressage judge Stephen Clarke and Olympic course designer Bob Ellis.
Both played pivotal roles in our sport over many decades, including their involvement with the London Olympics. Bob built courses for us here at Kingswood many years ago, while Stephen judged and delivered clinics at Kingswood until relatively recently.
What united them was their unwavering passion for equestrian sport, their generosity in sharing their knowledge, and their seemingly endless good nature. Both gave so much to the sport they loved and inspired countless riders, officials, and enthusiasts along the way.
They will be very sadly missed, and we extend our sincere condolences to their families, friends, and all those whose lives they touched through the sport.
Rest in peace, Stephen and Bob. Thank you for everything you gave to our sport.
