To cmmn grnd,

I have no words that can describe the immense gratitude I have for each one of you that make up this community — a place where all walks of life can come together and have the same accessibility to a comfortable movement space and you made it a reality — together, we showed that it is possible.

We got to to heal, to laugh and cry, to move messily and with intention, to discover, to enjoy and to fill our cups together so that we could show up kinder outside of the studio.

Thank you for having me a part of this beautiful journey. Thank you to everyone who has walked into the space, made this a home and trusted me with your bodies. I am deeply honoured to have been a part of this community the last few years.

I will be taking a little breather from teaching mat Pilates but I’m sure I will see you again soon. Let you know where I’ll show up next, but for now, see you later!

I started at Cmmn Grnd in 2021 as member, I was in the middle of a career change (broke as hell) and looking for a financially accessible way to still be active, Cmmn Grnd’s scaled membership provided me with a way to stay connected to my body during that time when I so desperately needed it. I spent HOURS riding with Sara, Chels, and Dyl.

It was through their encouragement I opened myself up to teaching again. It was something I deeply wanted to do but wasn’t sure that I would be “enough”. It was Dylan, Val, and Chels support, gentle encouragement, and trust, that got me onto the podium, and helped me grow into myself as an instructor.

It is so rare in this industry to be part of a space that pours into your cup as much as you pour out. I have *cherished* the time moving, growing, learning, laughing, and smiling together. THROUGH SWEAT AND TEARS! until we meet again 💓

CmmnGrnd entered my life at a moment of uncertainty, providing the steadfast support I needed. More than just a physical space, CG became my sanctuary, where I could freely express myself and teach with unwavering passion.
Walking into CmmnGrnd felt like being enveloped in a comforting embrace. It was an honor to be part of such an exceptional and nurturing community. My journey with Cmmn Grnd began with a desire to expand my understanding of humanity, and it blossomed into enduring friendships that I hold dear.

As I move forward, you’ll find me continuing my teaching journey at the upcoming slated to open its doors in May.

When I think of CMMN GRND, the biggest feeling that comes up is Honour. Being trusted with your movement practice is an honour. Being trusted with your bodies and your strength is an honour. Being trusted to hold space for the days and weeks when things aren’t moving as we’d like is an honour.

The second biggest feeling is pride. I am so proud of the love, commitment and community I see every time I walk into this space. I am so proud of the strength that has developed, not just physical, but the mental strength it takes to listen deeply to your body.

The third feeling is awe. To have been gifted the space and time to experience a community that is so beautiful and full of magic.

As I’m not ready to let this community go, I’m moving my group offerings to a new location. Starting April 7th I’ll be offering group strength Sundays at 12 noon and Wednesdays at 7pm. I’m additionally offering a 6-week workshop intensive for those that want to learn more about the theory of weight lifting and movement overall. I would love to see you all there!

When CMMN GRND first opened, I dreamed that one day I’d have the opportunity to teach in this special space. I’d experienced fitness spaces that say all the right things when it comes to fostering inclusivity and accessibility, but with CMMN GRND, words have weight and action.

The incredible people that bring their whole selves to this space remind me that when others show up unapologetically as themselves, it gives everyone else the courage to be their authentic selves.

Thank you to you, our community for allowing me to guide you on your movement and mindfulness journey. While saying goodbye to this much-loved space is hard, my hope is that CMMN GRND has changed you and left a lasting imprint - it sure has for me.

It’s been a pleasure breathing, moving and sharing yoga with you. Our practice prepares us for the both the challenges and the joyous moments in life and our work is just to be here - noticing and opening up to each experience, moment to moment.

Where even do I begin…

For most of my life, I’ve felt like an outsider in fitness spaces. The gym was scary, sports a source of ridicule, and group classes a recipe for humiliation. Then, in one of the most difficult times of my life, I discovered cmmn grnd.

Teaching spin this past year has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. Not only do I get to sweat, share my absurd playlists, and cry along with all you incredible people, but I also get to simply take up space, unashamed, in my own body. I get to sit on that bike, on that podium, and show everyone that fitness isn’t for just a select few.

Thank you so much to everyone who told me they loved a playlist, that they felt challenged, that they felt safe, that they felt welcome, that they loved their first class and couldn’t wait to come back, and that they felt like they belonged. Those little comments as you filed out of my class, sweaty and smiling, made my days, and I’ll cherish them always.

To everyone else at cmmn grnd, thank you for making me feel welcome, and warming that beautiful space with your presence every single day.

To Dylan and Cheryl, thank you for dreaming up this place, and making it a reality.

CMMN GRND is a place that has set a standard of how I show up in the world. Growing as a teacher with this kind of care and compassionate community has shaped how I carry space for myself and others.

Thank you to everyone who has taken a class with me. CMMN GRND is where I started my teaching career and it feels like I’m just getting started. Tuesday night Grounded restoratives will forever hold the kind of regulated magic I want to put out in the world. Thank you for cultivating trust with me.

Thank you to and Cheryl for manifesting this revolutionary dream. It is a concept that the world needs right now and, I’m endlessly grateful to have experienced it. Thank you for how it held us during the hardest times and for how it will carry us further along.

Grateful feels like too small a word to describe how I feel about my time at CMMN GRND-
Grateful for the feeling of belonging, for all the time spent on the bike, for the moments together before and after classes, for allowing me to teach not one but two throwback classes a week. Grateful for the encouragement, and grace, and guidance, and support.

It was a privilege to be on the podium, a privilege to be amongst you all.

To the wonderful cmmn grnd community, team, and everyone and anyone who has been part of this wonderful space over the last few years, I am so appreciative of all the moments we have gotten to share. Although my time teaching here started not too long ago, my first experiences as a student kept bringing me back. I remember how much I enjoyed a mat Pilates class back in 2021 with Mon, and despite it being pretty early at 7 am, it inspired me to take my Pilates teacher training. I am so grateful to have gotten to be part of this amazing space and being able to connect with others that share so many of the same values.

This space and community have truly allowed me to show up as myself and enjoy moving in a mindful and fun way. I am so honoured to have had the privilege of guiding folks in movement as well, and feeling so connected with everyone in the room.
I am so saddened that unfortunately things are coming to a close now, and I’m sending the biggest hugs to all of the CG community and team ♥️. Thank you so much Dylan and Cheryl for your hard work and dedication to making this space and community all that it was, it truly would not be the same without you. I’m hopeful that we will all have a chance to connect all together again and share in this beautiful energy in the future.

How to express what CMMN GRND has meant to me…It feels almost impossible to string together the adequate words. Here’s what my heart is saying right now:

What a joy and honour it’s been to be a part of this community. To move in a space that invites and encourages us to be who we are, how we are, in that very moment. To breathe, to sweat, to be messy, to act a fool, to connect - what a gift. I’m so proud to have been a part of this team and community. I will miss our “casual dance parties” the most.
