September is almost here, and that means some of our favourite fishing of the year is just around the corner! 🎣⁠

The Fraser Mouth chinook fishery opens September 1, and we’re getting excited for what the next few weeks could bring. Our river outlook is also looking ahead to the fall coho and chinook season, with good numbers of fish expected but we’re going to need some rain to get those rivers moving.⁠

Closer to home, the Ambleside beach fishery is heating up as more coho begin gathering around the Capilano mouth, making this a great time to get out for some early-morning beach fishing.⁠

Late August fishing is looking good! 🎣⁠

There are plenty of reasons to get out on the water right now, with good local chinook and coho fishing and excellent chinook action continuing in Area 17. The next few weeks should continue to produce before attention shifts toward the Fraser Mouth and the anticipated September 1 chinook opener.⁠
⁠
Closer to shore, the Capilano beach fishery is in prime time, with plenty of coho around for those willing to put in the early mornings and fish the right tides.⁠
⁠
Freshwater anglers have options too, with excellent Fraser River sturgeon fishing and late-summer chironomid hatches starting to get going on some Interior lakes.⁠

August is in full swing, and there are some great fishing opportunities happening right now. Gulf Islands chinook fishing continues to be excellent, while we’re starting to see more salmon showing up along the West Vancouver shoreline and around the harbour. With Area 28-9 now open for chinook retention, the local fishery is starting to get even more exciting as we move through August.⁠

Beach anglers are also finding a mix of coho, and we’ve got some freshwater updates and tips in this week’s report as well.⁠
