Toronto Chill - Granny Basketball Team

Toronto Chill - Granny Basketball Team Toronto Chill was formed by a small group of aged 50+ Canadian Women when we were accepted into the Granny Basketball League in February of 2024.

We are the first and only Canadian team in the League and we are the sole team in the brand new Great Lakes Division. We eagerly look forward to a number of things - learning to play the game properly, since it's quite different from regular basketball (it's played in zones and there's no running and no jumping;) getting and training referees, scorers and timers; growing the Great Lakes Division i

n Ontario and in Michigan and New York State (so we can have competitions;) growing the game in Canada; one day being good enough to play in the annual Granny Basketball National tournament in the Midwestern United States, held every summer. Coach and Player: Vicky Merrick
Captain: Lorna Beatty
Advisory Board: Jill Kohlsmith, Marnie Shepherd

Our Charity is Eastminster United Ministries Out Of the Cold Program and Nourish Food Bank. Thank you Pino and James! Special thanks to Kade Campbell of London, Ontario for the logo and to Emily Lee for help with Social Media. No Arthur, you can't be the team mascot, you don't look anything like a polar bear....

Pegasus is a Grassroots Organization founded in 1994 by a small group of women to address a community need – Adults with developmental disabilities who were finishing school had few options for continuing to learn and adopt adult roles in their community.
32 years later, we have 5 locations supporting over 60 people 6 days per week, including one specific to our Aging population. We provide community participation support services to adults with developmental disabilities and we are located throughout the East end Beaches Neighborhoods. The funds we raise today will assist us to continue to provide programming to our Participants. Our Ministry of Children and Community Service funding is appreciated but not nearly enough so we count on donations and fundraisers such as this to continue to provide the support we do and build connections with the community.
Team Pegasus would like to Thank the Toronto Chill Granny basketball team for connecting with us to bring attention to not Only Granny basketball but Pegasus Community Project and a thank you to both teams and our Volunteers today. And a Very special thank you to PINO and James from East End united for Donating the Space for Todays Game.
