The stuff that brings you alive is the very best stuff of life. Who wouldn't want more of it? And that's what Moving Spirit is about. We want to support you in creating your best moving body so that you can engage the world with your passion and live life LARGE! Moving Spirit is dedicated to the dynamic exploration of the heart, soul and science of movement. Here, fitness meets flow and creativity

and physicality find their true home in the body. Under the direction of Susannah Steers, Moving Spirit's programs evolve from an understanding that fluid, balanced movement comes from awareness and attention to the whole body and its fluid web of inter-connected systems. The Moving Spirit programs engage the whole body and involve a unique integration of leading edge science, holistic health practices, and creative sensibilities. We go beyond fitness and classical techniques to support movement enthusiasts and professionals in finding an embodied experience - creating highly personal, lasting and often transformative results. Our training practices promote a discovery of inner resources, ignite physical vitality and inspire a dedication to self-care and self-expression through movement. You move a lot … but your body STILL feels like it’s working way too hard.

We see the same patterns over and over: strong but unstable, flexible but tight, fit but constantly sore. That’s not just a fitness issue, or the cost of getting older – it’s likely a lack of coordination and integration in your movement patterns.

➡️ Swipe through the carousel and see if any of these patterns sound like you. If they do - your body isn’t failing you. It’s begging for better integration.

At Moving Spirit, we use Pilates and integrated movement training to help active humans improve their movement patterning so they can hike, run, bike and play with more ease and less wear-and-tear.

Want help figuring out where you are leaking strength or stability? Where your mobility might be hiding?

Exploring into new spaces.

Supported upside down. What happens when we move the arms? The springs open, the carriage moves, and the body moves through space. While supported upside down.

The nervous system shifts, the brain processes the body’s position in space, and the body offers real time sensory feedback about what’s happening.

For this to work, it takes more than just muscles. The whole body working, system relating to system, in the moment.

Pilates supports the integration of all these elements for the whole person health.

Our theme for June is integration.

Last month, we explored adaptation - how beautifully the body can respond and adjust. This month, we take it one step further.

Integration is where those changes begin to truly belong to us.

It’s the moment when movement is no longer something we “perform” in class, but something that naturally shows up in how we move through our daily lives. When the body, brain, and nervous system work together with clarity and ease. When the core becomes a connector.

This month, we invite you to explore what it feels like to move as a whole system - strong, responsive, and connected. Not just in the studio, but in the small, ordinary moments of your day as well as in the bigger, more dynamic expressions of your active life.

Because living in your body is about more than individual muscles or joints.

It’s about feeling at home within yourself.

Strong bodies, different stories.

This is what adaptation looks like in real life!

A room full of people who love to move, each on their own reformer, their own plan, their own chapter.

Same room, same teacher, totally different movement journeys. Building strength and ease so they can keep saying yes to the adventures they love!

Pilates for the win. 🤗

Stuck in a 'no pain no gain' movement philosophy? This post's for you.

Real change isn't the product of pushing hard - adaptation comes from the balance of challenge with recovery. Stress and rest.

In movement, that means:

🔹Enough load to create a stimulus
🔹Enough awareness to do it well
🔹Enough recovery to integrate the change

Too much stress? The body tightens, protects, compensates.
Too little? It stops adapting.

In Pilates, we work in that sweet spot - where your system is challenged, but not overwhelmed.

That’s where strength becomes usable.
That’s where coordination improves.
That’s where resilience builds.

If your body feels stuck between “too much” and “not enough,” we can help you find that middle ground. Feeling curious? Book a discovery call with us and let's get started! Let's change the way you move!

And finally, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Susannah Steers, the heart behind Moving Spirit. As a Pilates and Integrated Movement Specialist, and a somewhat accidental business-owner, I’ve spent years shaping a thoughtful, client‑centered space and quietly guiding a team whose combined skills are far bigger than any one person’s.

I work alongside this amazing team, helping shape the kind of studio where curiosity, compassion and collaboration matter as much as technique. My hope is to draw people together — staff and clients alike — so all our shared experience and expertise becomes one welcoming space where good things happen.

Wherever you are in your movement journey, I’m grateful you’ve chosen to spend a bit of it with us.
