Markham Aquatic Club

Markham Aquatic Club MAC is one of Canada's premier competitive swim clubs, with a tradition of excellence since 1973. GO MAC GO!!

As Ontarioโ€™s premier swim club, Markham Aquatic Club has a long history of producing swimming champions. MAC is a non-profit, inclusive community-based swim club, with over 300 swimmers from beginner to high performance, top professional coaches and training at the world-class Markham Pan Am Centre and new community pools. MAC coaches are the top in their profession, offering up-to-the minute knowledge and training techniques. The MAC coaching philosophy is to provide opportunities and encouragement for every swimmer to develop their full potential through the pursuit of personal excellence. MAC is a registered member of Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada and FINA. MAC swimmers compete in meets at the local, regional, provincial, national, and international levels. Since its beginning in the 1970s, MAC has been an integral part of the community. The club proudly fosters a sense of 'family', as older swimmers interact with younger ones and family-friendly team bonding events are shared throughout the year. Athletes also enjoy at least one team travel opportunity to compete each season. Operated by a volunteer Board of Directors and a club administrator, parents are the backbone to the club's lasting success. MAC swimmers love their club and their teammates, building bonds and friendships that last a lifetime. After an assessment, our youngest swimmers enter our introduction to competitive swimming program, Olympic Prospects and Top Age Group (TAG). These programs are an excellent gateway into our age-group development programs, Bronze, Silver and Gold. MAC swimmers first learn to train, then train to train and advance into training to compete at the elite level. As they develop proficiency in the physical, technical-tactical, mental, and emotional aspects of competitive swimming, MAC's Senior and Varsity swimmers are well equipped to handle the rigorous training and increased commitment to compete at National and International levels. Please join us in welcoming Coach Joe to Markham Aquatic Club as our new Top Age Group (TAG) Coach for the 2026 season ๐ŸŽ‰

Coach Joe joins MAC after serving as Head Age Group Coach with the Barrie Trojan Swim Club, where he coached athletes at the grassroots, regional, provincial and national levels, including provincial record holders. A former competitive swimmer with Barrie and Laurentian University, Joe has spent much of his life involved in the sport as both an athlete and coach.

Joe is an NCCP Level 2 trained coach. He is passionate about developing young swimmers by building a strong technical foundation and consistent training habits that help athletes progress toward higher levels in the sport. Joe is excited to join MAC and looks forward to working with its athletes and coaching staff.

Please join us in welcoming Endi Babi as the new Head Coach of Markham Aquatic Club for the 2026 season ๐ŸŽ‰

In his coaching career so far, Endi has worked with swimmers that have broken provincial and national records, earned nominations for Canadian Junior and Canadian Senior National Teams, and had a lot of fun along the way. Endi has also been selected to coach for Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada initiatives, including as Coach for Team Ontario at the 2022 Canada Games and for Team Canada at the 2023 World Junior Championships. He has long been exposed to world-class swimming and coaching and has been fortunate enough to meet many of his heroes. Endiโ€™s training philosophy provides a lot of variety for the developing swimmer, but maintaining consistently high standards in terms of effort, ex*****on, and attitude. His approach is to create a rewarding and engaging daily training environment where swimmers can find joy and adventure in the pursuit of their athletic goals. Endi holds bachelorsโ€™ degrees in English and Philosophy from Western Kentucky University where he swam for the Hilltoppers. He is a Chartered Professional Coach with the Coaching Association of Canada, has his NCCP301 and was recently awarded his Advanced Coaching Diploma from the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario.
