Master Derek Cheung was eight when his strong interest and talent for Chinese Kung Fu was noticed. Cheung has been practicing Jow Ga Kung Fu (周家) for over 40 years and won a number of Wushu Championships. In 1987, Cheung won the Spear Medal in the Asian Wushu Championships. In 1988, he represented the Hong Kong Wushu Team participating the China International Wushu Festival Competition in Hangzhou, China.

The fame gained by his sports winnings led to a career as a professional stuntman and action director on Hong Kong action film-making during the 1990s. Cheung later became the personal trainer of Chow Yun-fat in the movie “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)” and both have been working perfectly together and in good partnership with each other for years.

Cheung is the founder of Cheung’s Athletic Association in Hong Kong since 1998 and currently the founder and chief coach of Skycastleisure (Health & Wellness) in Toronto, Canada. He is also an experienced osteopathic practitioner operating a traditional clinic serving the Chinese community with wide support and good reputation.

Our martial arts school will officially accept enrollments from February. The training programs are available as follows:
Traditional Martial Arts Jow Ga Kuen ( 周家拳);
Traditional Southern Lion Dance;
Taekwondo;
Modern Jiu-Jitsu; and
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Due to the pandemic, only limited spaces for the classes are available, on a first come first served basis. Please go to our website to register and we will send you a notice to confirm.
