Quick question for anyone over 40 — when did you last leave the ground on purpose?

Because a box jump isn't a party trick. It's a stress test for the thing that ages first.

Most people assume aging takes strength. It doesn't — not first. It takes power: force x speed. Strength declines roughly 1–2% a year past midlife. Power declines about twice as fast.

The reason is fibre-specific. Type II "fast-twitch" fibres — the ones that fire hard and fast — atrophy earlier and more severely than the slow-twitch fibres that carry a walk or a bike ride. Add the motor units that drop out with age, and you don't just get weaker. You get slower to produce force.

That quality is called rate of force development, and it's what decides whether you catch yourself on a stumble or go down. It's also the quality nobody trains.

Steady-state cardio won't defend it. Neither will a leg press moved slowly. Fast-twitch fibres respond to speed and intent — loaded slowly, they stay quiet.

Which is why jumps are programmed into my clients' training in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Scaled to the person. A step-up. A low box. A hard med-ball throw. The height was never the point. The speed is.

Train for function, not just fitness.

Your skin is aging by the same mechanisms we train against.
NAD+ falling off. Senescent cells 🧟‍♂️ that stop clearing out. Collagen synthesis slowing down. That's what we push back on in the studio with load, recovery and protocol — and it's exactly what's happening on your face at the same time. ⚖️

Most skincare doesn't touch any of it. Hydration, exfoliation, a bit of retinol. Aimed at the symptom, not the mechanism. 🙁
So I've started running Skin Longevity Sessions at the studio.
45 minutes. I assess your skin properly, tell you what's actually driving what you're seeing, and build you a protocol from a line built on NAD+ precursors, senolytics and peptides.🔬

$75 — and the full $75 comes off anything you take home. Buy something and the session was free. Buy nothing and you still leave knowing what's worth your money and what's marketing.

I've been on this line myself for over two years. That's the only reason it's on my shelf.
Yellowhead Trail, Edmonton. Comment SKIN or send me a message and I'll book you in.

She recently started training with us to build strength for basketball, and by the end of her second week, she was flipping a 600-pound tire. 🏀🔥
This is about more than lifting heavy—it’s about developing strength, power, confidence, and athleticism that transfer to the court.
She’s just getting started, and we’re excited to see what comes next! 💪

Watch my hands.
Most people pick one — either they plant their feet and go hand-over-hand, or they hook the rope and walk the sled back. Both work. Both are slow.

I’m doing both at once. Arms pulling hand-over-hand while I’m backpedalling into it. The sled never stops moving, and the transition time that eats everyone alive on this station just disappears. Half the time, same 50m.

The catch: it lives or dies on grip. If your forearms are done by 20m, this will bury you — which is exactly why grip work isn’t optional in my programming, it’s the whole station.

Try it next session and tell me your time. And if you’re going to Toronto in October, this is the one to drill. 👊

Your gut does more than digest food.
It plays a major role in immunity, inflammation, skin health, hormone balance, and how your body responds to stress and illness. If you’ve been feeling off, getting sick often, struggling with gut issues, or dealing with skin and hormone concerns, your gut population may be an important place to start.[nih +2]
I’m offering a special promo price on my gut test package right now.
What’s included:
• A detailed expert review.
• A multi-stage protocol to make the process simple.
• Clear next steps based on your results.
• Support that removes the guesswork.
Even better: if you and a friend or family member both purchase a kit, I can offer a bigger discount.
If you’re ready to take a smarter approach to your health, DM me “GUT” and I’ll send you the promo details.

December’s coming. The handles don’t care that I’m nervous.
The more I prep, the easier it will be.
