REU is held in the beautiful Saskatchewan River valley near Devon Alberta. Next race Sept. 19 2026

The races of the River's Edge Running Series are located north west of Devon, Alberta, on some of the most beautiful varied terrain in central Alberta. They are a fundraiser for Olive Tree Projects, an organization started by an amazing young lady, Sarah Wallace, who has, in her young life helped numerous women and children in Haiti. 100% of the proceeds after race expenses will go to support this worthwhile cause.

The first opportunity to check out some of the REU trails is next Saturday June 27 by which time the Homestead Loop will be cleared of long grass and fallen trees, but probably not mosquito free. Meet at our place, 26323 TWP RD 511 Spruce Grove T7Y 1E2, which is nowhere near Spruce Grove, but 1km west of Hwy 60 on the south side of Graminia Rd which is just north of Devon. Please plan to arrive early enough so we can leave by 9AM. Refreshments provided after the run, maybe fresh cinnamon buns.
Runners who have not attended one of our training runs before must sign a waiver to attend. Email me at [email protected] for one.

LAKOU BACKYARD ULTRA MAY 16

I checked out the Lakou 6.706km “yard” yesterday. It still has a lot of snow on it but thankfully only a few fallen trees. With just a month to go until race day we are hoping for more runners and are in need of more volunteers.

Lakou is a true "backyard" ultra as it is held in our backyard with the great food we offer, prepared in our kitchen.

We have decided to make a change from offering T shirts as swag and instead runners and volunteers will receive a beautiful coffee mug, big enough for a beer.

Hill of a Race was a great success, thanks to the enthusiasm of the runners and the hard work of the volunteers. Special thanks to my wife Debbi Wallace for putting together the food and copying the hand written results to a PDF. They will be posted shortly.

Congratulations to our winners and all runners that challenged themselves on the slopes of Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Apparently, for some, it was not enough as it has been suggested we offer a 12 hour option, making it a true Ultra for many. How many of you would rise to the challenge?

My wife, Debbi Wallace who works as hard as I do to make River's Edge Running series a success, refers to the events as "Bryan's Bloody Races"
After much discussion and some canvassing among runners it was decided it was a good slogan to put on one of the hoodie designs we are offering with registration this year. Four colours available for each.

Once again we have begun to make snow in preparation for Hill of a Race happening on April 5 2026 at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. Before then thousands of skiers and snowboarders will pack it down until it is ready to run on. Registration is open at www.riversedgerunningseries.ca
