A wintery weekend away at Mount Compass saw us with some mixed results on Saturday.

Our mini Roosters flooded on to 'Bulldog Park' in droves and copped a mixture of conditions. We have so many exciting young players coming through the ranks, the coaches are very bullish on the plethora of talent we have in Red and White and we can't wait to watch them develop and grow under the fantastic array of coaches we have here at SFC.

The Junior Colts allowed Mount Compass to jump out of the blocks early, unfortunately the boys had to play catch up from there on but managed to keep the margin close. The result see's Strath sitting in 4th position and are likely to remain there with two games remaining before finals.

The senior colts came up against the lowly ranked Bulldogs and as expected took control of the game from start to finish. A good tune up before the next two very important weeks of footy in the lead up to finals.

The Reserves battled hard all day in trying conditions against a big and strong Mt. Compass side. The boys didn't give up and should be very proud of themselves for the way they competed against a side sitting inside the top 3.

The A grade started well with some great passages of play were just outgunned by the bigger bodies of their opposition. Some injuries along the way in both grades and we wish those boys all the best in their recovery.

Two weeks to go for our senior teams. Hang in there fella's.

Best Players

Senior Colts: Marshall Field, Sam Potter, Finn Keatley

A huge congratulations to our Rooster girls who featured in the 2026 GSFLW Medal counts. To have so many players recognised by the umpires throughout what has been a tough season for both sides is a fantastic reward for their consistency, effort and impact each week.

With the women’s season now wrapped up for 2026, it was just the men flying the flag this weekend.

Our Modified and Mini grades had an absolute ball in the sunshine on Saturday morning. A huge thank you to everyone who helps make our home games happen. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes each week certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

Our undermanned Junior Colts came up against a strong Myponga outfit that proved too good around the ground. A number of boys had to step into bigger roles, and our leaders stood tall once again. With some much-needed reinforcements arriving soon, we’re excited to see what this group can produce against Mount Compass this week.

Our Senior Colts were brought back to earth after a strong run of form. Inaccurate kicking early denied them the opportunity to put the game on their terms, but they’ll be looking to bounce back with several season-defining clashes to finish the minor round.

The Reserves were unusually quiet for the opening three quarters before flicking the switch and storming home with an outstanding final term. If they can bring that same intensity from the opening bounce this weekend at Mount Compass, they’ll give themselves every chance.

The A Grade would love a second crack at their opening quarter, but there were plenty of positives from the final three terms. A massive shout-out to the young lads who continue to put their hands up to play two games each week. The experience you’re gaining now will be invaluable in the years ahead. Credit also to our senior leaders, who responded after quarter time, steadied the ship and helped lead the group back into the contest with some competitive football.

A fresh challenge awaits this Saturday as we head to Mount Compass. We can’t wait to see the Roosters respond. 🔴⚪🐓

Best Players

B Grade: Max Jenke, Tommy Dash, Jake Fergusson

Another big weekend of footy for the Roosters.

As mentioned last week our U/17 girls season has finished with the bye. Well done ladies. Rest up and let’s gear up for a big 2027.

Our U/14 girls saved one of their best performances for last against the very strong Demons with the girls managing to snag a goal and defend valiantly only going down by 30 points. This was the last game of footy for our inexperienced group. They have been led by some incredibly committed and talented older girls who have helped develop and nurture the younger players.

Our Mini Colts and Moddies enjoyed a great morning of football, with fun, development, opportunity and participation the key. We have such a strong crop of kids coming through. It is incredibly exciting for all.

The Junior Colts steadily built their lead throughout the game, it was pleasing to see a number of younger players and some new to the game step up when things got tough. Our boys sit in 4th spot on the ladder and have a great opportunity to climb higher over the next month.

The Senior Colts took care of the 6th placed Pies comfortably. We are fine tuning for some huge weeks of footy coming up that will shape the top 3 come finals time.

The senior sides both suffered narrow losses at the hands of the Magpies. While disappointing, full credit to Goolwa, they were the better sides on the day. Our young group is working hard to learn from these performances and know that we have to bridge the gap from our best footy to our worst. Stick with us, these times build resilience and character.

Best Players

A Grade: Liam Newton, Declan Galdigau, Jack Wheaton

B Grade: Mark Tucker, Jaebyn Drefke, Jake Fergusson

Senior Colts: Max Wiese, Sam Potter, Ben Scott

Junior Colts: Rory Fox-Curnow, Tyrian Cousins, Logan Stutley

U/17 Girls: Bye

U/14 Girls: Stella Milbank, Mackenzie Diepgrond, Mia Tape
