Congratulations Matilda “Tildz” Barnes – 200 Senior Games!

Saturday 20th June, we celebrate a special milestone as Matilda Barnes takes the court for her 200th senior netball game.

Matilda's began at SNC in 2006 in 15 Division 2 before progressing through the 17s in 2007 and 2008. She made her senior debut in D Grade in 2009 and has been involved as a player for more than 15 years.

Throughout her time at the club, Matilda has represented:
D Grade – 2009
C Grade – 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
Senior 6 – 2014, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023
Senior 5 – 2015
Senior 7 – 2018, 2024, 2025

Along the way, she has earned multiple individual honours reoconising her contributions to her teams, including Best and Fairest Awards and several Runner-Up awards.

Matilda spent many years mainly in the mid-court before more recently making her mark in defence. No matter where she takes the court, one thing is guaranteed—she will give 100% every single time.

One of the things she loves most about the game is the sense of satisfaction that comes from being part of a team and working hard alongside her teammates. There is no doubt that netball brings Matilda immense enjoyment and fulfilment The friendships she has built and the memories she has made along the way are a big part of what has kept her coming back season after season.

Her coach Megsie describes her as having a bubbly and bright personality and being the "voice" of the Senior 7s. Whether it's encouraging teammates, keeping spirits high, or providing constant support and communication on court, Matilda's energy is infectious and an invaluable part of the team.

Off the court, Matilda has contributed as a coach, sharing her knowledge and love of the game with younger players. These days she can often be found with a whistle in hand, umpiring for her daughter Amelie's team.

And of course, no tribute to Matilda would be complete without mentioning her netball bag—rumour has it the contents rival Mary Poppins' carpet bag! From hair ties and band-aids to anything else a teammate might need, chances are Matilda has it tucked away somewhere inside.

Congratulations Matilda on your 200 senior games milestone. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this special achievement with you. We look forward to seeing you continue to do what you love for many seasons to come.

Round 10 sees us back at home as we take on Encounter Bay! 🏐❤️

As for the weather… we’ve learned not to trust the forecast too much 🤣. Whether it’s sunshine, rain, or a bit of both, make sure you pack an umbrella, rug up in some warm clothes, and come down to support our teams.

Good luck to all players this weekend, play hard, have fun, and enjoy the game! ❤️🏐

Round 9 results 🏐❤️ Round 9 marks the halfway point of the season, and we couldn’t be prouder of how all our teams are performing!

Our juniors have had a fantastic first half of the year, with 8 of our 10 junior teams currently sitting inside the top four on the ladder. Our senior grades are also having a strong season, with 3 of our 7 senior teams in the top four, and another 3 teams just outside in 5th place and well within reach of finals positions.

A special shout-out to our Intermediate teams, with all four teams currently sitting on top of their respective ladders. The competition is especially tight in Inter 4s, where the top four teams are all level on points, setting up what promises to be a thrilling second half of the season.

With plenty of netball still to be played, we’re excited to see what the remainder of the season has in store. Keep up the great work, everyone! ❤️🏐👏

Round 9 – McLaren Vale Away Games ❤️🏐

This week we hit the road and head to McLaren Vale for Round 9 of the season.

It’s hard to believe we’re already at the last game of the first round, marking the halfway point of the 2026 season. The year is flying by.

With plenty of exciting matchups ahead, we’d love to see our Strathalbyn supporters making the trip to cheer on the girls as they take on McLaren Vale.

Good luck to all teams this weekend, travel safely, play hard, and most importantly, enjoy your netball. ❤️🤍

Many of our SNC players and umpires have been representing the Great Southern Netball Association at the Netball SA Country Championships at SUNA over the long weekend. We have enjoyed some amazing weather along with some amazing netball.

Thanks to our umpires Kym, Emily & Ruby for representing our club and doing a great job umpiring.

🏆Ruby & Zara's senior team won the grand final today and didn't lose a game over the competition. Congratulations!

🥈Avery's 11s played 5 games today and her team won 4, putting them in 2nd place on the ladder in their pool (no finals).

All the other teams will be playing in the Division 1 qualifying finals on Monday.

13s finished 2nd in their pool
15s finished 3rd in their pool
17s finished 1st in their pool

Good luck to everyone in the finals.
