I'm definitely the one in our household that takes on the mental load of organising Christmas. This year was a little more stressful because having a newborn meant I didn't shop all the early sales and get organised in advance! This year I've actually had to go to the shops instead of having everything delivered (at least click and collect still limited my time in busy stores with 2 kids 😅)

I think I'm finally finished my Christmas shopping 🥳 How are you all going?

I can't believe how fast Christmas is approaching! 😮🎄🎁

Absolutely amazing news!
Some that I personally find incredible to see.

Anyone that has been through Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) knows how dangerous, challenging and awful it truly is. My last pregnancy was more challenging than I ever could have anticipated thanks to HG. It was hard physically, emotionally and financially for not only me, but my entire family.

I'm so thankful that research has shown a true reason for the overwhelming nausea and vomiting, as it's often overlooked and mistaken as 'morning sickness'.

I hope these studies are just the beginning step in finding more successful treatments or preventions for future parents!

First pumping session 💪
⭐ The most challenging part was keeping 2 children busy for 15 minutes. Charlie managed to get to the Christmas and keep himself busy, the tv went on for Bailey 🤷🙃
⭐ My proud moment was getting about 90ml - straight after feeding Charlie, I didn't expect so much!
⭐ Finished with a toddler tantrum because '*my* milk is so yummy' and I still had the audacity to put it in the freezer 🙃😂

After feeding my first exclusively from the breast, this time around I'm going to try a new journey.
Anyone that has pumped knows it's not easy. I'm unsure how to fit this into my life with a toddler and newborn but sometimes we have to try and do the best we can with what we have!

So wish me luck as I try to extract some milk! 🥛 I'll let you know how I go! 🤞

Anyone that has pumped before, comment your advice/stories/suggestions below!

Some days are harder than others as a mum. We're struggling with some of these dreaded teething days. We could all use some more sleep. I haven't been able to put my little one down. I haven't been able to sit. Just lots and lots of walking with a very upset bubba. It doesn't leave time for hair washing, good meals or house chores. This also gives my toddler big feelings while I only have so much energy and peace to meet his needs too.

Luckily some carrier cuddles let Charlie have a good nap and he is now a little more settled. Hopefully some teeth will come through soon, but you never really know, it could still be another month.

We all know that this is just a stage. We all know it'll end eventually. For today though, it feels neverending and hard. I want to acknowledge the difficult times too. Yes it will pass, but for today, it's a hard day and that's okay too.

For now I'll soak up these quiet cuddles with both kids, eat a bag of chips and watch tv. Sometimes that's all we have to give and that's just the reality of being a mum.

Does anyone else's Christmas tree look like this?

Life with babies and toddlers means more baubles on the floor than on the tree! As Bailey is getting older, the higher up he can resch to pull them off 🤦 I was hoping this year he'd be older and leave them alone, hopefully it'll settle as the tree becomes a background feature of the house.

Nothing prepares you for having sick kids. Even as they get older it's still so heartbreaking to see them so lethargic and quiet.

It's always a beautiful opportunity for lots of cuddles and there is nothing that is more important than holding them tight. My house is trashed, but I'm where I need to be - on the lounge with my babies.

Well except this kid, who finally went to sleep after fighting it for hours, once I put him down to play 😂

Hopefully everyone will be better and energetic again tomorrow, although I feel like the conjunctivitis might take a bit longer to get rid of 🥴🙃

Behind the scenes: I'm spending the day catching up on jobs that come along with running classes. Like using the sunshine to get all the carriers washed!

Did you know that I wash all hire carriers between classes? I want to be sure you and your baby have a nice fresh, germ free carrier to use. Especially since babies love to chew or spit up on carriers 😂 Not to mention get out that sweat that us mums work up during classes!

The hire carriers are always cleaner than the ones I use, they seems to get put last to wash, especially since I use them so much! Maybe this could be a gentle reminder for you, when was the last time you washed your carrier? Is it time to get it on the line? 😂😂😂🤷

There's something about packing up baby clothes that is just so hard and emotional 😭

I know they are just clothes, but they are also reminders. They remind us how much our little one has grown so far in such a short amount of time. They remind us how little our previous children were and it's hard to picture them ever being so tiny and precious.

I can't believe Charlie is 4 weeks old and already in size 000. He's such a big baby, he never even fit in the tiny outfits that were too big on Bailey when he wore them home from hospital and in those first few weeks.

It is sad packing them away knowing we may not use them again. So I'm just taking a moment to sit with that and make peace that yes they are just clothes, but also they are beautiful reminders and it's okay to feel nostalgic and emotional.

What do you like to do with your little ones to stay busy while you're at home?

We love to do a bit of baking! (and eating 😂) I love the way he continually amazes me with his new cooking skills and as he's getting older, the mess we make when baking isn't AS bad (there's still plenty of it 😂)

It's so hard to keep their growing brains and constantly moving bodies busy. We struggle to get creative with new things to do at home. Baking new treats or having Bailey help cook dinner always seems to bring new positive energy to our household.

Being home with a newborn has changed the dynamic a lot and Bailey is still adjusting to sharing mum and dads attention. We have just had to work extra hard to give him some one on one time with each of us. I haven't had much time to myself, but making time for my first baby is time well spent.

I'd still love a little alone time but I know that will come with time and I will miss these moments.

Transitioning to 2 children has been a lot easier postpartum than it was having my first.

This time around, I have a baby with a lot lower needs. My first was difficult, didn't sleep, had some health concerns and even now as a toddler, he is often really difficult. We got all the advice, nothing worked and I was often left feeling like I was failing him and myself.

This time I prepared for the worst of the sleepless nights, months of postnatal depression and anxiety and endless crying. It has been an amazing journey these last (nearly) 4 weeks. I was more prepared for birth and recovery and knew what newborn life could be like. This time I opted for private midwife care that has been consistent so I have had more regular and compassionate support. I have a baby that has lower needs and sleeps! Not through the night but in 2-3 hour regular stretches and it makes the world of difference.

I am a more confident mother, and also, I'm doing all the same things as a parent and this time I just have a baby with lower needs. Babies are hard work, but some are so much harder than others!

I'm feeling so grateful that I can look back and know that I wasn't doing everything wrong the first time. My baby wasn't broken and didn't need to be fixed. We just had a hard time and often just parented differently based on what worked and felt right at the time.

If you are having a difficult time in your parenting journey, know that you will find what works best for you eventually, and the support you need is out there, don't give up looking! You might just have a baby with higher needs than others. You might just be struggling to find your footing as a new parent. Just know that you are doing your best, whatever that looks like and that is enough! You are doing a great job, just keep going, one day, or one hour or one minute at a time 💕💕💕

Please reach out if you are struggling, would like a chat, or need to get out of the house. I'm happy to catch up for coffee or at a playground to be a listening ear or help you find the support you need!

(Also I can't wait to get classes back up and running soon so we can all get out of the house and have some fun!)
