In exciting news, the Greening Rosewater Loop team won Conservation SA’s 2026 Working Together Award at an SA Environmental Awards ceremony on Friday 5 June.

The award recognised significant outcomes by a community group over a 12 month period. GRL’s role in advocating for funding & action, galvanising community members and building a Rail Care SA (Rosewater Loop) team have all contributed to a very different looking Rosewater Loop & Gillman Marshalling Yards.

Congratulations to the GRL team, Rail Care SA volunteers and many others who have all worked hard to achieve this great outcome.

Joe Szakacs MP
Cheyne Rich MP
Claire Boan - Mayor of the City of PAE

SA Infrastructure and Transport
Cr. Kat Mitchell - City of PAE - Parks Ward

Great to see another local resident & Rail Care SA volunteer, working with the Greening Rosewater Loop team and taking initiative by planting out an area along the new bike & walking track.

The area from Leader Street to Eastbourne Terrace - southern side - now has a combination of over 60 trees, shrubs, grasses and ground covers all planted in the last week before the rain. Thanks to everyone who made this happen!

If you’re a local and keen to do some planting on the Rosewater Loop you can join an existing group or adopt and care for (with support from the team) an area that’s adjacent to or near your home. You’ll need to become a Rail Care SA volunteer but that’s easy! We’d love to hear from you. Email:

A few of us are gathering on Sunday to do a wheelbarrow rubbish run along the track:

- Sunday 10 May
- 9.30am
- Russell Street (starting point)

If you’d like to participate, meet at the corner of Russell Street and the rail track. At 9.30, we will start walking along the path from Russell Street to Leader Street, picking up rubbish (glass, plastic, metal, etc) along the way.

Bring some gloves and a bucket or a wheelbarrow for collecting rubbish. Hope to see you there!

A great turn out on Friday morning, moving a lot of mulch onto the plants southside of Gillman Rail Yards just adjacent to Marine Terrace (corner of Jenkins St). Let’s hope this rain keeps coming.
