Max Teague flies the flag at the National Championships!

Three tough days of racing on the Sunshine Coast for Max Teague, representing Mackay at the 2026 AusCycling Junior & Masters Road National Championships in the Men Under 15 category.

⏱️ Individual Time Trial — a brutal hilly course packing 200m of elevation into just 10km. Max dug in for a strong 4th place.

🏁 Criterium — fast and technical from start to finish. Max positioned himself perfectly all race, but mistimed the sprint to the line, just missing out for 5th place.

☀️ Road Race — run in scorching heat, with attacks flying straight off the start line. Max put in a massive effort towing the peloton back to the breakaway, only for a small, strong group to immediately counterattack. With the tank already emptied from the chase, Max couldn't follow, but kept fighting all the way to the line for 10th place.

Three days, three top-10 finishes against the best young riders in the country. That kind of effort and fight says everything about the type of racer Max is becoming. Max races with us at Mackay Cycling Club, and we couldn't be prouder to see him fly the flag on the national stage! 🏆

📣 We want your feedback – 2026 Road Season

The 2026 road season has wrapped up with the Corry Shield, and while track racing is still going strong, we'd love to get your feedback on the road season now while it's fresh.

🌏 From Mackay to the World Champs, go Brittany!

Huge congratulations to Brittany Roberts (née Wedemeyer), who competed in the 2026 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France, after qualifying at Ironman 70.3 Cairns!

Brittany is a long-time Mackay Cycling Club member who raced both track and road as a junior. She's been missing from our local road races lately, but for good reason. She's been deep in training and travel, building toward the biggest stage in the sport.

Representing Mackay on the world stage is no small feat, and we couldn't be prouder. Congratulations, Brittany! 🚴🏊🏃

🏁 Corry Shield Handicap, that's a wrap on the 2026 season!

What a way to finish up the road season. Big congrats to Brian Hammer for taking out the Corry Shield.

Callan Lavender put down the fastest time on the day but picked up a centre line infringement, so Fastest Rider honours went to Ethan Jansen instead.

A few things made this one special:

👨‍👦‍👦 We had three generations of one family out racing together. Brian, Isaac and Jade Hammer all on the road at the same time.
🎂 Youngest to oldest was 15 to 71 years old. Pretty cool that everyone gets to line up together like that.
🥭 The finish under the mango trees was awesome, real throwback to how these races used to feel.
🌭 Massive thanks to Ryan Corry, who raced a lap and then went straight from his bike to the BBQ. Cooked for everyone and had the whole area sorted beforehand too.
🚦 Thanks to Brendan Hoban as well for jumping on corner marshal duties for the day.

Also want to say a big thank you to Corry Cycles for sponsoring the race. Really appreciate the support.

Thanks to everyone who raced, marshalled, cooked or just came down for a look. Days like this are what the Corry name means to cycling in this town.

Handicapping was a bit generous this time round. Thanks for racing hard anyway, and we'll see everyone next season 🚴
