LIFT Cricket’s inception wasn’t overly straightforward.
Although I had played outdoor cricket for as long as I can remember, I only started playing indoor cricket after we moved to Mackay when I was 14.
In 2015, I became a distributor for a small cricket business that sold both outdoor and indoor gear. The issue was simple; their indoor bats just weren’t good enough. They had a strange profile and didn’t last.
So, I took a risk.
I found an overseas supplier, ordered 10 indoor bats, kept a couple for myself, sold the rest, and reinvested everything into proper stickers and more stock. That moment marked the birth of LIFT Cricket in early 2016.
When the business I was distributing for found out, they asked if I was running my own brand. I was honest:
“Yes, but I’m only focusing on indoor gear, because the indoor bats you make are ordinary.”
I was then given a choice:
Run their business… or run mine. Not one or the other.
That was a no-brainer.
From there, I taught myself how to repair bats through YouTube videos. As my knowledge grew, I slowly invested in more tools, built more skills, and expanded my capabilities.
At the same time, I was working on myself, learning discipline, patience, and long-term thinking. That was necessary, because at 18 years old, I had managed to get myself into a significant amount of debt.
Eventually, that mindset led me into day trading, where I’ve been trading quietly for the past three years while continuing to work on LIFT in the background.
I was also incredibly fortunate to meet a mentor, David Bugeja, when I was 18 and buried in debt. Through his guidance, I was able to clear that debt, buy and sell a property, and build a completely different foundation for my life. He has even written the foreword for my book.
That journey, from cricket bats, to business, to trading, to personal growth is what led me to write:
📘 L.I.F.T YOUR GAME
This book isn’t hype.
It isn’t motivation fluff.
It’s a framework built from real experience.
My hope is that anyone who reads it can take something away, and if you’re serious about changing your own path, you’re welcome to message me. I’m always happy to point people toward the right knowledge, tools, or connections.
LIFT Cricket was never just about gear. It was about lifting standards in sport, business, and life.
