Due to yesterday's Monthly Medal being washed out, we will play the Medal next Saturday (12/09/2026).

Consequently, the 2 Person Ambrose that was scheduled for next Saturday will be put on the back burner for some time in the future.

Your names will be retained in the slots you placed them for the Ambrose, so no need to book a space on the timesheet if you had already done so.

Veteran's Monthly Medal and Putting: 03/09/2026.

Today gale force winds heralded in what we can expect for the next month or two as the Spring winds raced across the Roaring 40s and up the fairways of the superbly manicured Longford Golf Club.

Thirty eight hardened souls traversed the links with surprisingly some strong scores recorded.

Winner of the Monthly Medal was John Bardenhagen with a nett 70.

Spring took a backward step for the field of Lady members playing a Bogey round at the LGC today. Luckily the quality of the course presentation was enough for everyone to ignore the chilly wind. Debbie Heron's winter rounds paid off, taking the win with +1. Runner-up was Patsy Muir on par, then came Toni Burton and Thelma Berne, both on -4.
NTP's today went to:

Jane Harrison on the 13th.

The Saturday Jackpot putting competition continues to attract a lot of interest, with today's jackpot rising to $290.00. The winning ticket belonged to Sue Limbrick, who made a valiant attempt at the putt, missing by a very small margin. Expect the pot to rise to the mid $300s next time.

Also a big reminder that the Swing into Spring raffle has only 2 weeks to go, being drawn on Saturday 13th September. First prize will be a full years membership (ex Capitation Fee), Second prize a $100 voucher, and Third prize a $50 voucher. Get your entries in to give yourself a chance at a free year's membership.

Stroke: Front Tees - 29/08/2026.

Today in what could best be described as balmy conditions, 50 participants teed it up to contest a Stroke event on an ever fastening track. Playing off the front tees created an element of novelty for many, and either proved a blessing, or a curse for those vieing for honours.

Special thanks to our generous sponsor today in Ian Davey from "Ian's Dog Grooming Service, Longford". Winners and lucky draw recipient Dylan Morice, would certainly have been pleased with the prizes Ian offered up.

Mandy Burbury was in attendance early on in the day to sell raffle tickets for the Royal Flying Doctor's. Thanks, Mandy.
A reminder that the Benevolent Day is on Monday the 7th of September. On this day all proceeds will be channelled to the Royal Flying Doctor's to add further to the funds collected from the raffle takings.
The Fixture's Calendar for that September the 7th event is open for you to pop your name down with a partner to contest a Canadian Foursome. $20.00 will see you enjoy entry and a lunch.

Most of you would have seen the metal seats today in the buggy area with the "Longford Golf Club" laser created insignias. Veteran's Challenge: Longford v Port Sorell: 27/08/2026.

Plenty of blue skies, warming temperatures and a quickening track greeted the 54 players who were in attendance today to contest the 2nd return round of the Longford v Port Sorell Veteran's Challenge.

Impressively, the Port Sorell GC was out in full force fielding 19 contestants who travelled the considerable distance to fly the colours.

Regrettably for the Port Sorell GC, the Longford GC staged a relatively resounding comeback today, wiping the 26 point deficit incurred following our visit to Port Sorell, to take our the Challenge with an aggregate score of 682 to 672.
Today's round proved telling, with the Longford GC scoring 363 to Port Sorell's 327, hence an overall narrow 10 point margin was tallied in favour of the Longford GC. Congratulations, team Longford.

Under blue skies and calmer conditions, a small field of ladies contested a Stableford event today at the LGC. Rose George had a run-away win, with an impressive 39 points. Mandy Burbury was runner up with 30 points, followed by Jennifer Hughes on count-back from Debbie Heron on 29 points. Marie Heggaton won the 9 hole event. NTP's were won by Rose G. on the 4th and Jennifer H. on the 13th. The power pin 9th, jackpots.
Another reminder of the Benevolent Day for the Royal Flying Doctor Service on Monday 7th September, the format being Canadian Foursomes. This event is a mixed gender competition, open to players from all clubs. We would love to get a full field for the day. Please contact either Mandy Burbury or Bette Maxwell to enter a team.
