Veteran's Stroke: 04/06/26.

After a fair degree of ummming and arrring, 11 Veterans set forth today to defy what had initially been deemed unplayable conditions; however, once the rain cleared, only a cool southerly hindered the progress of those bold enough to challenge the undeniably suboptimal conditions.

Results played out as follows.

Winner - John Bardenhagen - 71.
Runner-up - John Morgan - 72.
3rd - Brian Oliver - 77.

CTPs.

4th/13th - John Bardenhagen - 2.95m.
7th/16th - Chris Beard - 7.37m.
Power Pin - John Bardenhagen - 4.74m.
Longest putt on the 18th- Greg Berry - 1m!!!!

Thanks to Chris and Duncan for your efforts today in ensuring the day ran smoothly.

And a special thank you to Chris who has taken on the onerous, if not prickly task, of pruning the hawthorn hedges that extend all the way up the left hand side of the 3rd. The ditch (up to the 250 metre mark) has now been cleared and looks a picture. This project is a credit to you, Chris, and once again demonstrates your dedication and unerring commitment to our club. The members truly appreciate your endeavours.

Also, thanks to everyone who dropped a "Like" on Facebook last Saturday. 64 Likes was, I believe, a record for a posting. Great effort everyone.

Sunday - the Sunday Run 9 Hole comp.
Tuesday - Stan's Comp.

Thanks to Steve, Debbie, Craig and Joe Jrn for all your work today in ensuring our day ran as smoothly as it did.

Good luck to our pennant players tomorrow out in the hinterlands of the North East.

Don't forget the 9 Hole Sunday Run is on tomorrow - 9.00 - 9.15 tee off.

Thank you to all members and outsiders who follow us on Facebook. Steve informed me that we have had 1200 contacts in recent times. I know not everyone puts up a "Like", but it would be great if you could occasionally as it makes these posts seem worthwhile. Not only that, but it helps people appreciate we are a club who connects with our members and the community.

See you out where those Summer handicaps are being challenged by the onset of more trying conditions.

Cheers, JB.

Longford Vets Stableford: 28/05/2026.

Today the Longford Vets hosted the Riverside GC for the first round of our inter-club challenge.

We also co-hosted 8 players from the Deloraine GC, so it was a particularly busy day with over 60 players in attendance.

It was terrific to be able to re-commence our inter-club challenge with Riverside after a two year lay off.

Hopefully this will be the beginning of a long re-connection with our city club cousins. Fourteen players representing the Riverside GC will certainly be hoping so, as will the 39 players from the Longford GC who pitted their talents against Riverside on our home patch.

Yesterday's rain slowed the course to some extent, but not annoyingly so. Consequently, strong scoring was still generally the order of the day.
