The Longford Tennis Club will be starting their usual Winter Ladies Social Tennis on Wednesday 15th April 2026. The ladies will be meeting every Wednesday (weather permitting) for a social hit of tennis, commencing around 10/10.30 am. This is a perfect opportunity to improve your tennis. Come for the whole day or just an hour or two.

There will be soup and bread for lunch prepared by members of the club. Club members and non-members are welcome. Cost will be $2.00 for Longford Tennis Club members, $5.00 for non-members (which includes balls and lunch).

Our Division 2 team won the mid-week pennant final 4-1 against Deloraine. Congratulations to all the players 🏆🎾

The third and last tournament for the month of March was held on Sunday. A cool morning turned into a perfect autumn day. A very strong field played the men’s doubles competition. And the tennis was fantastic. Well done to our club junior Oscar who teamed up with his dad and played very well.
The semifinals were played between Rod Smith/Shaun Summers vs Kieran Naidoo/Declan Geard and Jordon Lovick/Isaac White vs Ken Ho/Grant Smith. A fiercely fought final between Kieran and Declan against Ken and Grant was won by Kieran and Declan. Congratulations to everyone on some amazing tennis.

What a busy time at the Longford Tennis Club. On Sunday the annual mixed doubles tournament was played in perfect conditions. 10 teams took part and all matches were very close. Semi finals were played between Ralph Jak/Belinda Lovick vs Chris Cornes/Jo-Ellen Batchelor and Judy Gardiner/Quinton Gardiner vs Paris Littlefair/Shaun Summers. Winners were Judy and Quinton, runners-up Chris and Jo-Ellen. Another perfect day with some fantastic tennis.

Congratulations to Grant Smith & Belinda Lovick who won our recent Fast 4 Tournament in an exciting tiebreaker final against Betty Griggs and Sonny Targett. Play stopped to toss a coin to decide the final serve in the finals and the next serve decided the winning team. Such a perfect finish to our Fast 4 day of competition.

Our Fast 4 Tournaments are very social & extremely popular with partnerships drawn from a hat on the day.
Thanks to Ralph & Paris, Shelley & Aaron, Jill & Andrew, Sue-Anne & Hugh, Ange & Henry, Chris & Jo Thwaite’s, Jo Drake & Rod and Rebecca & Ranuo for another fantastic day of tennis.

Our semi finalists were Chris & Jo Thwaite’s and Ange & Henry who played great competitive tennis all day.

2025 Ladies Singles Championship 🎾

Our Longford Tennis Club ladies singles day was held recently and what a fantastic day of tennis it was!

With Jo-Ellen, Margit, Louise, Stacey, Heidi and Sarah competing in a round robin, there were plenty of close matches and great rallies throughout the day.

Sarah and Heidi battled it out for the B-grade title in a closely contested match with Sarah just taking the win.

A tight contest between Louise and Margit saw Louise advance to the A-grade final against defending champion Jo-Ellen. In the end, Jo-Ellen dug deep to retain her title as our 2025 Ladies A-Grade Champion.

Congratulations to all players for some brilliant tennis and great company!

Our courts have been resurfaced and are ready to be used again. This was made possible thanks to the support from the Longford rotary club, tennis Tasmania and the premiers discretionary fund.

A great spring day on Sunday provided the background for another wonderful day of tennis for the Longford Mens Singles Championships in both
A and B Grade.
It was good to see 3 new players in the tournament and a strong field of 5 men in both grades.
Our very competitive B Grade players were Hugh, Aaron, Ranuo, Jock and Henry.
Henry Smith played strong competitive tennis and was undefeated in the B Grade round.
The finals was a very entertaining match and closely contested with a tiebreaker at 8-8. Henry and Jock Hughes battled it out on the court with Jock winning the tiebreaker to claim the B Grade Men’s Singles title for 2025.
The A Grade Tournament was another great competition with 5 strong contenders in Ralph, Grant, Victor, Laurence and Cam.
Laurence dominated in all his matches and was undefeated in the A Grade round of competition.
Cam Richardson & Laurence La Polamba played a very strong finals match with Cam taking the title for the 4th year in a row to be our
Longford A Grade Mens Singles Champion for 2025.
It was wonderful to see so many club members call in through the day to support the players and to watch both the A and B Grade Finals.
Thanks to Chris and Grant for running another fantastic tournament for our Longford Tennis Club.

Another great team effort from our Longford Tennis Club committee and members with our annual working bee.
Thanks to everyone for showing up and rolling your sleeves up to tackle the list of jobs needed to keep our club in tip top shape.
Grant managed to fix the pole holding the verandah up, Sarah, Margit and Ralph trimmed the hedges while Chris, Lou and I weeded and raked and removed it.
Thanks also to Ian, Hugh & Brandon for installing a watering system.
Chris fixed loose palings on the fence too. Thanks to Sarah and Rosalie for providing morning tea.
