Loomis modifications

Deano hit me up to extend the handle on his old GL2 so that he could use it to do some line class fishing with. Regretfully I never took any before pics but it was a single handed baitcaster configuration. The rear grip was about 150mm long with a semi pistol grip shaped cork grip.

I removed the cork rear grip back to the blank, cleaned it up, and then glued on an extension piece and reverse built the new rear grip to the length that Deano wanted. I then restored the front grip by filling in a few holes / cracks and then lightly sanded with some 320 paper. I finished up by giving the rod a new coat of finish and the job was done.

Weaponess

Got the stickers on the big girl and now I just neeed the time to get her in the water and do some serious fishing. The Dunsborough FADS go in next month and thats going to be me.

Im going to need to build up a few new spin rods for the Dollies :)

The Prophet

JP hit me up for a rod to smash demersals back home with. He wanted something fun to fish with and something with big balls for those unexpected encounters. It had to be a conventional overhead build, it had to be loaded with the best bits, and it had to be in Tigers colours.

The result is "The Prophet"

Built on a Samurai Premium blank with ALPS reel seat and alloy bling bits. Custom grips with Tiger colour inlays and a Fuji guidetrain featuring Sic rings. I did a really wicked marbling job in Yellow,Black, and Silver that really ties all of the differenet components of the build together and makes this rod really stand out from the crowd.

Pauls Flatty Slayer

Its nice to build something a bit different from my normal offshore / line class rods that I seem to be building a lot of recently.

Paul wanted a rod to primarily chase big flattys around his local flats but he also wanted a bit more firepower in case he hooked up with a Baz whilst fishing the flats.

Another Samurai premium blanks thats 6'6 in length and is rated in at 10-17lb and features an extra fast action which gives it really nice castability. I loaded this stick up with a selection of ALPS alloy bling in the handle assembly and used Fuji Sic guides and tip for the guide train.

Paul loved the purple rods ive been building lately and so we went for a purple theme but threw in some lime green to get a wicked contrast and ensure that the Flatty Slayer punches you in the face with her loudness when you see her. Another wicked marbling job and some nice finishing works and shes ready to start terrorising the local flatty population.

Cottys 2 & 3Kg Line Class rods

I built Cotty a couple of new line class rods for the his exploits around the archipeligo. These rods have been built on Samurai premium blanks that have been loaded up with all of the good bits from Fuji and feature some really nice custom cork grips and some killer threadwork using sawbladles and centre fades.
White thread always looks so good on rods and put together with this purple the colours really compliment each other. Theyre loud, but not too loud, and are unusual which im a big fan of as a rodbuilder.

Wearneys Weapons

Wearney needed a couple of travel barra rods for an upcoming trip in the Kimberleys. We ended up going with a 3 piece Samurai that was 5'9 and rated at 12-20Lbs and had a V/Fast action that felt really crisp and is an absolute weapon of a rod and my favourite of the two..

The other was another 3 piece by R-Tech that was 6'3 and 8-18 Lbs, that was finished in green, and was Fast action with medium power. Both overhead builds featuring beautiful quality cork, juji reels seats and guide train (Sic) and the usual bling bits I like to use.

Both rods built to cast big rubbers all day with.

A lot of really nice fish caught on these rods already and a lot yet to go.

Weaponess

A massive thanks to Jed from Karrath Signs for the design work he has done with my new boat stickers. Im absolutely stoked. I wanted something hardcore with some gun type s**t and hot chicks in corporated into the design - as you do when you call your boat Weaponess. As usual he knocked it out of the ball park and came up with the coolest design.

Now all I have to do is apply them when im home next week :)
