It doesn’t matter what age you are, what injuries you have, what pain you have or what you’ve heard from your GP (who has no training whatsoever in musculoskeletal health).

A properly guided strength training program will improve all the things that -statistically- go downhill as you age. The statistics exist because historically, almost no older people do proper strength training.

Start easy, get guidance, don’t let the fear of the unknown stop you.

There’s a lot of ways to do a squat, but a lot of the ways aren’t as good. There’s lots of elements to a squat, but the only things you need to think about are holding your brace (after learning how to do that) and managing your foot pressure (after learning how to do that as well).
Powerlifting, at its most basic, is just finding the most efficient way to do 3 things. As a coach, being quite reductive can be very helpful. Take away things that don’t help your lifters do one of these 3 things more easily
