PTN data is gathered through a large range of independent trials run in temperate areas of Australia. PTN have been running various pasture variety trials with over a decade of data available. There are many trials currently in progress, with performance data made available as the

y are completed. PTN data and trial report information is free to all, with no cost to access information.

Join Tony for a look at the PTN phalaris trial at the Southern Farming Systems (SFS) site in Rokewood!

Established in 2024, the trial is part of PTN’s independent pasture variety evaluation program, which has included phalaris since the program launched in 2011. This trial has faced some dry periods of late in Western Victoria.

Recent phalaris trials have been extended to four years. This long-term assessment provides the independent data foundation for PTN, offering producers and advisers more reliable information to make informed decisions about forage varieties for sowing.

Supported by Meat & Livestock Australia, Dairy Australia and the Australian Seed Federation, along with leading Australian proprietary seed companies, PTN unites members via a reliable national platform that offers benefits beyond individual trials.

These partnerships allow PTN data to feed into established tools such as the Meat & Livestock Australia PTN eTool and Dairy Australia’s Forage Value Index, as well as our own GxE analysis, enhancing confidence in sowing and breeding choices industry-wide.

As PTN expands into new species, its membership has grown, solidifying its position as a connected, industry-supported network for temperate Australia.
