Balmain Bowling Club All calls are currently diverted to St Johns Park Bowling Club Barefoot Bowling at Balmain Bowling Club provides you with your own stake in Australian history.

Formed in 1881, the Club's barefoot bowling green is the oldest lawn bowling green in use in Australia. Barefoot Bowls is available Friday through to Sunday. We supply the jack, the lawn bowls and instructions if required. The cost is $10 per head. Game time is 2 hours. Expect to have fun, even in light rain! Bookings are essential and 50% deposit is required at time of booking.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MEMBERS
June 2026
The Board of Directors wishes to update members on several significant developments affecting the future of Balmain Bowling Club.
After a detailed review of the Club's financial position, the Board has determined that the Club can no longer continue trading in a financially sustainable manner. Despite the efforts of management, staff, and volunteers to improve operating performance, ongoing financial losses and increasing costs have made it impossible for the Club to maintain its current operations.
As a result, the Board has made the difficult decision to cease trading and close the Club, effective close of trade Saturday 13th June 2026.
While this is disappointing news, there is also a significant positive development to report. The Club has recently received Development Application approval from Inner West Council for substantial renovations and improvements to the Club premises. This approval represents an important milestone and provides a pathway for the future revitalisation of the site.
