Fitco Specialised fitness coaching We offer our services both to our hotel guests and private clients all around Cape Town.

We have been conducting our practice at the Vineyard Hotel since 2012 at this world class facility nestled in one the most beautiful parts of Cape Town, six acres of attractive landscaped parkland on the banks of the Liesbeek River, located in the lush leafy suburb of Newlands. Throughout the years we conducted programmes for wellness, fitness enhancement, weight management, corrective exercise an

d high performance training. We also contract our service out to mountain hike guides to lead our guests and clients through graded hiking trails on Table Mountain.

Heard of ? It’s not as complicated as it’s sounds.

Functional training is training which has a purpose. More than that, functional training is focused on movement patterns that have a purpose.

The purpose can be related to getting better at everyday activities or preparing to compete in a sport such as our client Peter Jones (Masters Provincial lifesaver champion) is demonstrating.

Here he is engaging in functional athletic specific training with resistance power bands, looking to repeat his high performance results this coming summer under FITCO coach

FITCO is returning to its home and here is the first taste of our Online Coaching integrating with our Standard Personalised Coaching.

We have always taken immense pride in the hygiene and cleanliness of our facility and will abide by all government regulations to ensure that our clients can exercise in a safe and comfortable environment.

To all our incredible clients who have supported us through these tough times, we appreciate and value your commitment to continuing your fitness journey with us!

Slowly, with strong protocols in place, we will return to our new normal face to face fitness coaching roots.

Let’s talk !

In simple terms, mobility is the ability to actively achieve a range of motion or
mobility = flexibility + strength + control.

Having mobile joints enable us to be stronger and more resistant to injury.

But how do we train mobility?

The foundation of mobility practice is CARs (controlled articulate rotation). A CAR is a way to move your joint through its full range and remind your body it needs to maintain that.

Here we have Ian Gray demonstrating two Thoracic CARs exercises:

Exercise 1: Kneeling, while simultaneously squeezing isometrically the stability ball with his adductors and the medicine ball into his chest.

Exercise 2: Progressing to standing with straight astride leg position, applying the same irradiation forces.

Don’t we all want to feel more alive?

Too often our goals are for the short term, “I want to fit into that pair of jeans or perform well at a sports event”.

At FITCO, we look at things a little differently and shift our clients focus onto the long term.

Instead of a goal to loose “x” amount of weight in the next 12 weeks, our goal is for you to regain your health for the rest of your life!

The results will come but only with a commitment to the long-term process.

Ever heard of Hip CARs?

CARs or Controlled Articular Rotations help to this region and also help to keep our hip joints healthy through all ranges of motion.

Keira Powers, a former SA ladies touch rugby player, recovering from a total hip replacement and making huge strides in her recovery.

Here she is executing a progressive single leg standing hip CARs, and then with support poles. Coached by FRC certified .
