Glutes, glutes, glutes and more glutes! If you train with me you will know that this is a muscle that will never be neglected! This article explains in simple words once again, the importance of training the Glute medius. This muscle plays a huge role in basic human movement and even more so during activity or playing sports. Check it out and if there's any questions, feel free to ask! Have a brilliant day!!

The gluteus medius muscle is a primary stabilizer of the hip and when weak has been found to correlate with low back pain, hip pain, and knee pain. If you had to lose one muscle this would not be a good one to give up. I frequently find that the gluteus medius muscle is weak …

Posture is something I think most of us have a problem with unless if you have been taught by a professional how to correct your own posture and key points to think about when going through day to day life. Here is a great article that highlights the importance of correct posture and it will remind you of things we correct when we're training especially! Training with great posture is so important so the sooner you get an idea of what we're trying to achieve the better! Any questions...give me a shout!

Not maintaining good posture and adequate back support stresses the spine, which over time can lead to changes in the anatomical characteristics of the spinal structures and back pain from problems with muscles, nerves, discs and joints.

Very informative read for those struggling with chronic upper trap pain and tension. If you have ever woken up from a long nights rest with your head at a bad angle, getting home from work with a terrible tension headache coming from the back of your neck or even just driving for a extended period of time...you will know this pain!

It's important too remember that all these external factors has a bad affect on our posture (anterior and posterior) and it is vital to assess where the tension is coming from. Once you have determined this, ensure you see a professional to give you some corrective exercises and some stretches.

Also please remember if this is something you struggle with and you are following a training program on your own or with a trainer, controlling the movement of the scapula during exercise, is of the utmost importance! Please ask your trainer how to go about this...if he/she doesn't know...there's a problem!

Have a brilliant day and give me a shout if you've got any questions!

If the link between overhead movement and shoulder injury is merely a correlation, then what’s the cause at the heart of it?

Just a quick note on rep ranges as it is one of the most asked questions regarding training in my experience. This will also give you a good idea of how far you can go with your rep amount to really grow some lean muscle. I have always believed that this is a science...there's no way of getting around it. There's is a specific rep range you need to stick too for a specific reason, exceeding what you have been told and scientifically been proven...combined with terrible technique and fatigue is wreckless and just plain stupid.

Have a plan, know what to do and stick to it and please remember...safety comes first! Train safely but effectively even if it takes you longer to get too your end goal!

Good morning guys!

New year and a new you! I urge you too consider the next assessment that I will be uploading and if you are unable too perform these tests on your own, drop me a message or pop into Virgin and il show you how! I'm always going on about knowing where you're at regarding flexibility and knowing when too and when not too stretch. I feel that this assessment is hugely overlooked among personal trainers and that training routines are being followed without testing the flexibility of the client before they start! As you will see, this article explains perfectly why this is so important and the reasoning behind it.

If you've trained with me before or a client currently, I'm sure all of this will make sense! If not, we can discuss it further when I see you for your session this week!

Have a brilliant day!!

Good Afternoon guys!!

I hope everyone is having a awesome day so far and getting stuff DONE!! Were flying towards the end of the year and I really hope you have achieved what you set out for yourself! Summer is barely here so if you have left it a little late, don't panic...theres still some time for you too get going!

Please guys remember that there is so many different training methods out there these days especially with summer on its way, crossfit, bootcamps etc. PLEASE oh PLEASE ensure that you know what you sign up for and do some research around some of these places. Safety comes first when getting in shape...you aint going nowhere once you pull a hamstring, tear a tendon or twist an ankle. A lot of these "fads" or "sports" look like fun but think about it before you just jump into the deep end. Heres a few questions too ask yourself before you get going:

1. Do the Coaches/trainers know what they are doing? Are they certified?
2. Is the facility that you are training in safe?
3. The equipment you are using...is it safe and are you using it for what it was intended for?
4. Have you been assessed by your coach/trainer to pin point what training/work YOU need before you even do your first exercise?
5. The training you are about to do...is it REALLY beneficial for YOU and what your body needs? Its not about what everyone else is doing...this is about YOU!
6. Are you being corrected EVERY step of the way, are you doing movements properly and safely? Are you following F**T principles??
7. Remember...when it looks dodgy and dangerous and might cause you injury...it probably will!!

Heres a few points to look at before you take on a new venture or challenge regarding your training!! If you need some motivation for that next session you are about too take on...remember...pain is temporary!!

Have a Spectacular day!!!

Hey Guys!!

My goodness its been way too long! I have finally squeezed in some free time too get back on track with my page and I will make sure I keep in touch more regularly this time! I want too thank ALL my clients for your continued support over the past year, it has been absolutely awesome working with each and every one of you!

Right so i'm kicking off this summer with some tips regarding the all important diet as it is THE most important part of getting in shape over the holiday season. I find that very few people that start training with me really know what a proper eating plan is supposed too look like. These that actually do know, have a huge issue with actually getting too a point too successfully change their eating habits and drop the so called food groups we are addicted too.

Guys what you have too remember here is that we as human beings develop certain eating patterns as we get older and the older you are and the longer you have been following this eating routine, the more difficult its going too be too change. We fall in love with foods that make us feel good, tastes amazing and lets us forget what were actually putting into our bodies. Its only much later and a few months or even years down the line where we realise...wow..im sure last year this time I was a size 34 and not 38??!! Once you have recovered from your mild panic attack and tried too convince yourself that its everything and everybody else's fault, you calm down and realise its time for a drastic change!

If you are currently a client of mine you will know that I don't believe in drastic changes when it comes too nutrition. Why do you think these quick fix eating plans and diets never work for the majority of us?? Its because our approach too the whole system is wrong! Remember...habits takes a long time too sink in, even up too two months!! Which means the better you prepare for your journey ahead, the better off and more successful you will be at the end of the day!

All this means is too start with baby steps, please don't jump in your car, drifting around corners too get too the shops as soon as you can just too buy foods that I guarantee you, you will dump in the bin 2 weeks into your plan. MENTALLY prepare yourself for what is about too happen, think about this, work out a game plan about what will go first and what will be introduced first. Meal by meal plan what it will contain and how it will be prepared. Take your time with it...its not a race! Like I said...plan properly and you will get where you want too be! Good Luck!!!

Please check out this article that talks about things you need too look out for when you are thinking about following or if you already are following a eating plan. Let me know what you think!
