Tide Pooljng but make it chaotic 😅🌊🦀

Tide pooling is the process of inspecting and noting the species and ecosystems within the tide pool.

This is important because it allows us to better understand the species and the ecosystems in our waters as well as encourage protection and conservation efforts! 🐠

Though we didn’t see a lot of diverse organisms on the surface, there were still countless microbiomes and little organisms in the tide pool.

Hopefully on another day we can spot some more species to share!😉

One of the many incredible opportunities we get to offer for our internship is through our partnership with White Shark Africa is the chance to encounter one of the ocean’s most iconic predators – the Great White Shark. 🦈

But these trips are about more than just unforgettable sightings. Every encounter contributes to ongoing conservation research through fin identification, a non-invasive method used to recognise individual sharks by the unique markings, shapes, and notches on their dorsal fins.

By identifying and re-sighting individuals over time, researchers can monitor population dynamics, movement patterns, site fidelity, and population health. This valuable information helps build a clearer picture of Great White Shark populations and supports informed conservation and management decisions.

Every photograph tells a story, every fin has an identity, and every sighting contributes to protecting these magnificent animals for future generations. 🌊💙
