Our Marine Biology Interns have spent the week learning all about sharks and rays through the PADI AWARE Shark Conservation Program — but learning doesn't stop in the classroom!

This week they took the ultimate practical lesson... coming face-to-face with the ocean's most misunderstood predators in the shark cage right here in Mossel Bay! 🌊🤿

From shark biology and conservation to real-life encounters with Great White Sharks, this has been a week they'll never forget.

After collecting, separating, and analysing beach samples as part of our PADI AWARE Microplastics Program, our Marine Biology Divemaster Interns got a closer look through the microscope—and the results are eye-opening.

These tiny plastic fragments may be small, but they have a huge impact on our oceans and marine life. Every piece of data collected helps us better understand and combat plastic pollution along our coastline.

From Open Water to Divemaster, our Marine Biology Interns are diving into an unforgettable adventure! 🌊🐠🤿

At Garden Route Scuba our internship is about so much more than earning dive qualifications. While our interns are actively involved in our exciting Intertidal Studies Program, they're also gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of marine conservation and research initiatives.

From shark conservation through the Elasmobranch Eco-Education Program 🦈, to investigating the impact of microplastics on our oceans ♻️, and supporting seabird and penguin rehabilitation at SAPREC Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre 🐧, every day brings new opportunities to learn, explore, and make a difference.

Combined with world-class diver training through our 5-Star PADI Dive Centre, this internship opens the door to an incredible world of marine biology, conservation, adventure, and personal growth.
