Northern Cape Cricket warmly welcomes and appreciates the commitment by the Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr. Zamani Saul, and the MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Mangaliso Matika, in pledging R5 million towards the refurbishment of the Kimberley Oval.
This commitment is a significant investment not only in our stadium, but in the future of cricket, sports development and sports tourism in the Northern Cape.
As Northern Cape Cricket, we are extremely grateful for the continued support and confidence shown by the Provincial Government. The Kimberley Oval is more than a cricket ground β it is a home for our players, a platform for developing young talent, and an important asset for the province's ambitions to grow its sports tourism offering.
With three international fixtures scheduled for Kimberley between September 2026 and March 2027, together with the opportunity to host official Fan Parks during the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, this investment comes at a critical and exciting time for cricket in our province.
We look forward to working closely with the Provincial Government, Cricket South Africa and all stakeholders to ensure that the Kimberley Oval is ready to welcome players, supporters and visitors from across South Africa and the world.
Together, we are raising the standard, growing the game and positioning Kimberley and the Northern Cape as a destination for world-class cricket and sports tourism.
Thank you, Premier Dr. Zamani Saul, for believing in the power of sport to unite, inspire and create opportunities.
