A project we hadn't talked about a lot lately has made several bugs step. "Shiner" our 66 Galaxie 500 Fastback has been on the back burner waiting for a heart transplant. We finally got the new 390 back together and dropped in under close supervision of the shop foreman! Waiting on a new FE oil pump primer to get here and some gauges and then we'll be able to get this one fired up and back on the mountain so to speak.

Small but measured progress on the Chilly car. Heat and humidity have died off a little making the body filler a bit easier to work with.

Well, mother nature 1, 4Ts 0 today. It is so hot and humid in the shop today that with the body filler hardener I have on hand, the body filler is starting to cure almost as fast as I can mix it no matter how much I cut back. Stalled till Monday until I can get some slow cure hardener. On to other projects......

Busy day today but managed to get a little epoxy primer on Chilly. Not really huge progress but this epoxy primer will stop the flash rusting in our humid environment and is able to have body filler applied over the top of it. If all goes well I will be able to start getting the body filler on the car tomorrow. Coming together.

Update on "Chilly", got all of the new raw steel in the trunk are painted. I love the raw steel but down here in Southeastern NC where its been 110° in the shop with 95% humidity, if you don't get it coated it starts to flash rust really fast. Next up was getting all of the crush panels back in and edges sealed. Still got a little sealing to do in the trunk area but overall, everything is going back together with out too much issue. So far I have only had to make one new crush panel from scratch. I am hoping when I go to put the radiator duct box back in it will go this smoothly. Since I had the car up on the lift, I went ahead and painted the back side of all the new front body work. Typically the entire nose is fiberglass, but the nose we were able to obtain for the car had been repaired numerous times before we got it, there was 40 pounds of body filler in it so Ronnie, hand fabricated everything from the top bumper line down out of sheetmetal. Since a lot of it will be covered with duct work I went ahead and got some paint on the underside today. Heading to Salisbury tomorrow to pick up some scales I bought for the shop so won't be back on this project until Friday, and planning on slinging mud all day Saturday. So stay tuned, more coming on this restoration.
