⚽️ Lady Apaches Battle Mississinewa to a 1–1 Tie
The Wabash Lady Apaches welcomed the Mississinewa Lady Indians to their home field Saturday morning, August 29, with kickoff at 10:00 AM. It was a great morning for soccer, and the two teams put on a competitive, hard-fought match from start to finish.
From the opening whistle, both teams came ready to compete, showing great hustle, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the entire 80 minutes. There were battles for every ball, players stepping up to make plays, and plenty of back-and-forth action all over the field.
For the Lady Apaches, this was our best game yet. We were finding feet, connecting passes, stepping to the ball, winning 50/50 balls, communicating, and playing strong, organized defense. Most importantly, we were playing good soccer and playing for one another. The growth this team is showing from game to game is exciting to watch.
The Lady Apaches created multiple opportunities and shots on goal, and the hard work eventually paid off. Braelyn Eis came through with a huge goal for Wabash, finding the back of the net to tie the game at 1–1 and give the Lady Apaches the momentum they needed to continue battling through the final whistle. ⚽️🔥
In goal, Brynn Lindsey once again came up big, recording an impressive 19 saves over the 80-minute match and keeping Wabash in the fight from beginning to end.
A huge part of the Lady Apaches’ success came from the work happening in the backfield. Riley Eckelbarger, Colleena Meadows, Paycen Stackhouse, Alyssa Rose, Kensleigh Whitney, Sienna Stoffel, and Olivia Wilkin all played major roles in a strong defensive performance. We were especially excited to see Olivia back on the field after returning from injury! These girls battled, stepped to the ball, won challenges, and worked together to keep Mississinewa’s attack under pressure.
We also had several players step into midfield and forward positions when needed—and they did so without hesitation. Josie Bradford, Gracie Bearman, Ember Christle, Briar Stoffel, Taylin Fager, Shannon King, Kati Bradford-Marks, Sienna Stoffel, Baelee Noland, and Braelyn Eis all did a fantastic job filling whatever role the team needed.
And that is something we are incredibly proud of with this group. 🖤🧡 They are becoming a TEAM. Having student-athletes who are willing to step outside their usual positions, accept a new challenge, and put the needs of the team first is something special.
The final whistle brought a 1–1 tie, but the score doesn’t tell the whole story. This was a game where the Lady Apaches showed growth, confidence, toughness, teamwork, and a willingness to fight for one another.
We may not have walked away with the win, but we walked away proud. Proud of the effort. Proud of the growth. Proud of the way these girls competed. And proud of the way they continue to come together as a team.
It’s exciting to see this group getting better with every game. We’re learning, we’re improving, and we’re starting to see the hard work come together on the field. ⚽️🧡🖤
