Thank you to our football moms. Thank you for trusting us, and more importantly, thank you for trusting yourselves. Thank you for trusting that you’ve prepared them to do something challenging, to push through adversity, and maybe, to find something they love.
Nothing really prepares you for this part of football.
Not the games.
Not the wins.
Not even the losses.
It’s the feeling you get
sitting in those stands
watching your kid line up,
knowing what’s coming next.
Your stomach drops
every time the ball is snapped.
You try to follow the play,
but really you’re just watching him
waiting to see if he gets up.
You tell yourself to relax.
You tell yourself he’s fine.
You tell yourself this is what he loves.
But still
you hold your breath a little longer
than you ever admit out loud.
Because these aren’t little hits anymore.
They’re hard.
They’re loud.
They’re the kind you feel
from the stands.
And somehow,
you’re supposed to just sit there
like this is normal.
You cheer.
You clap.
You yell like you’re not scared.
But deep down
you’re always a little scared.
And at the same time…
you’ve never been more proud.
Because you see it.
The discipline.
The commitment.
The way he keeps going
even when he’s exhausted.
The way he’s grown
into someone stronger
right in front of you.
And you realize
this isn’t just about football.
It’s about letting go
in ways you weren’t ready for.
It’s about trusting
that everything you’ve poured into him
is enough to carry him out there
without you.
It’s about sitting in those stands
week after week
learning how to be both
terrified and proud
at the exact same time.
And if you’re a football mom
you don’t need this explained.
You feel it
every single Friday night. 🏈
