➡️Five athletes from the Central/Logan High School Trap Team and one athlete from the Aquinas Trap Team recently returned from Mason, MI where they competed in the US Clay Target League National Championship. Their end of the regular season averages earned them the opportunity to compete with the best of the best in the nation. Lillian Turner, Aiden Martin, Drew Hass, Benji Wood and Cole Hasburgh competed in both team and individual competitions for C/L. The team competed against 234 other teams, with just 80 moving on to the finals on Sunday. Unfortunately, they didn't make the final cut, but it wasn't from the lack of trying.
⭐️Saturday was individual competition for 1795 athletes with 400 moving on to Championship Sunday. Cole qualified for the finals by shooting a 96. He also shot a 96 on Sunday and finished in 223rd place.
Congrats to Drew who finished with a 93 and earned two 25 straight patches. He shot 50 straight in practice, but unfortunately that didn't count towards any patches. Cole also earned two 25 straight patches. Both him and Drew had 49s and were part of the "Oh so Close 49 club." Lillian fell just short of a 25 straight patch and was a member of the "Oh so close 24 club." Cole was part of that club also, shooting four 24s on Sunday.
This was Lillian's first year competing at Nationals and she did great. Hardest part of the weekend is having to say goodbye to our seniors Drew, Aiden and Benji. All of them have competed at Nationals anywhere from 3-5 years.
🥇The star of the weekend was Alexis Stupi from the Aquinas team. After shooting a 97 on Saturday to qualify for the finals, she came out on Sunday and shot a 99. That score earned her the title of NUMBER ONE FEMALE IN THE NATION!! She placed 43rd overall. What a way to end her high school trap shooting career. Congratulation!
Think this competition isn't tough- think again. Here are just some of the numbers from Sunday. There were 16-100 straights, 32- 99s, 56- 98s, 64- 97s and 63- 96s!
✔️Planning has already begun for our spring 2027 season. We'll see you then.
