A few months ago my left arm wanted nothing to do with ring support.

The arm drifted away from my body, maintaining position was difficult, and pressing out of the bottom of the dip wasn’t available.

Fast forward to today:

• Full ring turnout
• Minimal left arm drift
• Pressing out of the bottom under control

No magic exercise.

No breakthrough workout.

Just identifying the limiting factors, addressing them, and stacking enough quality reps over time.

Progress usually looks a lot less exciting than people expect.

Until you compare it to where you started.

Same athlete.

Same day.

Different output.

Sometimes performance isn’t about adding more.

Small businesses are a lot of unglamorous work behind the scenes.

But if I’m asking people to trust me with their movement, the place should reflect that too.

Head and neck position do more than just hold your head up.

They provide information your body uses to organize posture and movement.

That’s why changing one area can sometimes create changes somewhere completely different.

Neck issues don’t always start because something is tight.

Sometimes movement changes because of the information the body is using to organize position and force.

That can show up as:

• one side tighter
• neck constantly getting irritated
• shoulders feeling off under load
• fighting posture

Try today’s test and pay attention to what changes.

This week we’re covering:

• sensory input
• neck function
• BJJ and lifting carryover
• tissue vs sensory drivers
• how RESET tests instead of guessing

The drills from this week were not “the whole fix.”

They were a quick sample of how fast movement and stability can change when the right muscles and joints start contributing better.

If they helped you,
that’s a good sign your shoulder was compensating around one of those areas.

But not everybody compensates for the same reason.

Some people need sensory input cleaned up.

Some people need joint reactivation.

Some people need actual tissue and strength work to get the shoulder stabilizers contributing correctly under load.

That’s why RESET starts with testing instead of guessing.

I figure out:

* what your body is compensating around
* what’s not contributing correctly
* what’s leaking force
* and what specifically needs to change for your body and your sport

Then we build that back into pressing,
rolling,
lifting,
and force production so it actually sticks outside of a drill.

This week we worked on getting the shoulder blade moving and stabilizing better.

Now here’s where that starts showing up in BJJ.

A lot of shoulder problems start as:

* one side fatiguing faster
* unstable frames
* trap tightness
* shoulders feeling cooked after rolls

That matters during:

* framing
* posting
* hand fighting
* supporting your weight

Because your shoulder isn’t just moving there.

It’s trying to hold position while bodyweight and force keep shifting around it.

If the shoulder blade loses position,
the neck,
upper trap,
and shoulder joint usually start picking up extra work.

That’s when one side starts burning out faster,
frames feel weaker,
or shoulders feel beat up after rounds.

The drills from earlier this week help because they improve how the shoulder blade organizes and transfers force through the arm.

Tomorrow I’ll explain why these drills can work fast for some people, why they do nothing for others, and how RESET figures out what your body actually needs instead of guessing.
