Core Principles Personal Training is the gym for for those 50+ who don't really love the gym or exercise really, but know that feeling good is the key to living life well!! IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH:
… knowing what to

do at the gym?
… losing unwanted body fat, getting strong, toned and upping your metabolism
… working around past injuries or, worse yet, getting injured during training?
… keeping up and feeling silly in fitness classes?
… showing up at the gym when you say you will? We believe the body was made to move and we do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach, so we build personalized programs that get you to your goals. Core Principles uses sound fitness programs implemented by accomplished and passionate fitness coaches to create a fun, inspiring, and empowering community.

One of the biggest myths we hear is:
“I’m probably too old to start now.”

But some of our most successful members started in their late 60s and 70s.
Patti, 66, joined two years ago and said: ““I am so much stronger and more fit…I wish I had joined earlier!”

What changed during her first year?
Not perfection.
Not intense workouts.

Instead:
• She felt steadier
• Daily movement became easier
• She gained confidence
• She built a routine she could actually maintain

That’s what sustainable strength training should feel like.

At Core Principles, we’ve spent 12 years helping Stamford adults 50+ begin safely in a calm, welcoming environment designed specifically for this stage of life.

Beginners are welcomed.

Exercises are modified for knees, hips, and backs.

And coaching stays personal because our groups stay small.

Teachers, this one’s for you.

By June, most teachers we meet feel:
Tired feet and knees
Stiff back from standing and sitting all day
Zero time to do anything just for you

Summer is your window to change that.

Introducing Stronger by September: Teacher Summer Pass at Core Principles in Stamford:
16 coach-led, small-group training sessions
Use them anytime June 15 – Labor Day
Built for women teachers 50+ who feel like beginners
Joint-safe, knee/hip-friendly strength in a calm, non-intimidating studio

Investment: 3 payments of $279
Early-bird bonus (through June 11):
Grab your pass by June 11 and your last payment drops to $200 instead of $279.

That’s $79 saved for deciding quickly.

We’re capping this at 12 teachers so every session stays small and personal.

If you’re a teacher and want to feel stronger and more confident walking back into school this fall, DM us “TEACHER” and we’ll send all the details.

Not a teacher, but know one who deserves this? Tag them or share this post with them.

“Bonjour from France, Chris. I just wanted to thank you for making it possible for me to hike up to the top of this castle in 90 degree heat so I could see this spectacular sight. Some others in my tour group had to bail — but I made it to the top easily. Because of you and the Core Principles team.” – Karen

Karen recently retired. She’s the furthest thing from a “gym rat.”

She started with us because she wanted to:
Feel stronger
Be able to travel
Not have her body be the reason she had to say no to things

Like a lot of women in their 60s, she sometimes wondered:
“Is this really making a difference?”

This trip gave her the answer.
90‑degree heat.
Steep hike up to a castle in France.
Some in her group had to turn back.
Karen made it to the top. Easily.
And she was proud of what her body could do.

That’s what strength after 50 is really about:
Not how much you lift in the gym
But what your body lets you say yes to outside of it

If you’re 50+ in the Stamford area and you’ve been wondering whether this kind of thing is still possible for you, that’s exactly who we help:
Adults 50+ only
Small groups (max 6)
Movements adjusted around real knees, hips and backs

Our 14‑Day “New to Strength Training” Trial is a simple way to see what’s possible for your next trip or adventure.

The next 5 years matter more than most people think.

Not in a scary way.
In a very practical way.

The small choices you make now shape how your everyday life feels later.

One path usually leads to:
More hesitation
Less energy
Avoiding certain activities
Feeling less confident in your body

The other path often leads to:
Better balance
Easier movement
More independence
More confidence saying “yes” to life

Barb, who’s in her late 60s, told us:
“My main concerns were knee issues—stiffness, swelling, and instability—but after 10 weeks, attending two classes a week, I’m already seeing real progress. I feel stronger, more mobile, and much more stable, even after not working out for a long time.”

That’s what this work is really about.
Not chasing perfection.
Not extreme workouts.

Just helping your body feel more capable so you can live the way you want for longer.

At Core Principles, we’ve spent the last 12 years helping Stamford adults 50+ build strength safely in small groups, with coaching tailored for:
Knees
Hips
Backs
And people who haven’t exercised in a long time (or ever)

You don’t need to be “fit” to start.

You need consistency, support, and a place that understands this stage of life.
If you’re 50+ and this hits home, reply NEW and I’ll send you details about our 14‑Day “New to Strength Training” Trial so you can see if it’s a good next step for you.

A lot of people think strength training after 50 is just about “doing workouts.”

From what I’ve seen, the biggest changes actually happen outside the gym.

Cathy put it perfectly:
“Before starting at Core Principles, I was a couch potato! I spend a lot of time taking care of my husband and my goals were to be stronger, more flexible and have more stamina in order to be able to do so.
I’ve been here a little over a year, and so far I have accomplished all those things and more! I can stand up easier, I can walk further, and I am not afraid of doing activities that a year ago would have intimidated me.”

That hesitation she talks about? It’s something I see a lot:
Avoiding longer walks
Skipping certain events
Saying “maybe next time” a little more often
Worrying about stairs, crowds, or keeping up

It’s quiet, but it slowly shrinks your world.

Then something starts to shift:
You feel steadier on your feet
You trust your body a bit more
You feel capable again

And suddenly, life feels bigger.

For the last 12 years at Core Principles, I’ve been helping adults 50+ in Stamford (mostly women who don’t love gyms) build that kind of strength in a calm, supportive setting:
Small groups (max 6) so you’re never lost in the crowd
Movements modified for real knees, hips, and backs
Two 1:1 “Foundation” sessions to get you comfortable before you ever join a group

You don’t have to become a different person overnight.

You just need a place to start, with people who understand where you’re coming from.
If you’re 50+ and reading this thinking, “That sounds a bit like me,” comment STRONG or send me a message with STRONG and I’ll let you know what June openings we have and whether they might be a good fit for you.

Many adults over 50 wonder:
“Am I too out of shape to even start?”

Cathy felt that way before joining Core Principles.

She described herself as a “couch potato” and spent most of her energy caring for her husband. She didn’t want anything extreme – she just wanted to:

Feel stronger
Be more flexible
Have more stamina for everyday life

So she started small. Two simple, consistent strength sessions a week.

Over the course of a year, her life began to change:
Standing up became easier
Walking farther didn’t feel so exhausting
Activities that once felt intimidating became manageable
Even lifting her husband’s walker in and out of the car felt easier because her arms were stronger

Those are the kinds of changes that truly matter after 50.

Not just what happens during the workout – but what happens in your daily life because of it.
One more thing surprised her:
She became more consistent than she ever thought possible.
And that confidence started to spill into other parts of her life.

That’s what safe, supportive strength training can do:
Help you feel more capable
Help you stay more independent
Help you feel more in control of your life again

If you’ve been unsure about starting, you’re not alone. Many of our members in Stamford began feeling exactly the same way.

To make starting easier, we offer a 14‑Day “New to Strength Training” Trial – a simple, supportive way to see what’s possible for your body without having to figure it out on your own.

📩 If you’re 50+ and this resonates, comment NEW or send us a message with NEW and we’ll send you the details and answer any questions so you can see if it’s a good fit for you.

Ever feel like there’s a tug‑of‑war going on in your head about starting strength training?

One side is excited:

“I want to feel stronger.”
“I want to be able to hike at Mianus again.”
“I want to keep up with the grandkids.”

The other side whispers:
“It might be uncomfortable…”
“What if I’m embarrassingly out of shape?”
“Is it too late for me? Maybe I missed my window.”

If you’re nodding right now, you’re officially human.

At Core Principles, we see this internal tug‑of‑war all the time—especially with women in their 60s who’ve never liked gyms.
Here’s the good news: you’re still the boss.
Your brain prefers the comfy couch, but it doesn’t get the final say.
Proof you’re not the only one
Diane, [71], felt the same tug‑of‑war:
Worried she was “too far gone”
Convinced she’d be the most out of shape in the room
Afraid of making her knees/hips worse

She finally decided to “just try 2 weeks.”

A few months later:
Stairs felt more manageable
She was walking more without thinking about it
She stopped sitting out as much on family outings

Her words:
“I wish I’d stopped arguing with myself and started sooner.”
3 small ways to win the tug‑of‑war
Acknowledge it
“Yup, I’m scared and curious at the same time. That’s normal.”
Just naming it takes the edge off.
Picture a specific payoff
Not “getting in shape,” but something concrete:
Walking the Stamford waterfront without worrying about your knees
Climbing the stairs at a concert without dread
Playing on the floor with grandkids and getting up confidently
Take the tiniest next step
Not “work out 5 days a week.”
Just: send one message, or commit to trying 2 coached sessions.
Toe‑dip, not cannonball.
“Is it too late for me?”
Short answer: no.
Starting earlier would have been nice.
Starting now is still infinitely better than not starting.
Strength training in your 60s and 70s still gives you:
More joyful adventures
Priceless time with people you love
A body that feels more reliable in daily life

If you’re 50+ around Stamford and you’ve been stuck in that tug‑of‑war, you don’t have to win the whole battle today.

You just need to take one step.
Our 14‑Day “New to Strength Training” Kickstart is built exactly for this:
Coach‑led sessions
Small groups of adults 50+
Movements adjusted for real knees, hips, and backs

We’ve been stubborn for 12 years.

We never sold training sessions without a membership.

We never offered a low-commitment way to get started.

We never made it easy to just try us out.

Until now.

This summer, for the first time ever, we’re offering Session Packs—so you can get stronger, feel better, and move with more confidence… without committing to a full membership.

Why the change?

Because summer can be a beautiful mess.

Trips. Visitors. Days that get away from you.

If you’re like most of our members, the last thing you want is to wait until September again, feeling stiffer, more tired, and more frustrated than before.

This is your chance to stay consistent—even with a choppy schedule.

To feel proud of yourself for showing up—without pressure, without judgment.

If you’ve been nervous about starting, or unsure if this is “for you,” these packs are a gentle way to dip your toes in.

You don’t need to love exercise.

You don’t need to be in shape.

You just need to be ready to stop putting yourself last.

Let this be your moment.

You’re worth the time.

You’re capable of more than you think.

And now? You’ve got an easy way to start.

Grab your 8 or 12 Pack of sessions by sending a DM and Colleen will get you all set up!

A lot of adults over 50 don’t avoid exercise because they’re lazy.

They avoid it because they’re worried about getting hurt… or making an old injury worse.

That concern is real.

Patti came to Core Principles nervous because of a chronic elbow and forearm issue, along with several past injuries that made exercise feel intimidating.

But instead of being expected to “push through it,” She found something different.

The coaches adjusted movements when needed, paid attention to what her body needed, and focused on building strength safely over time.

And in just over a year, the results were bigger than expected.

She became stronger. More fit. More confident.

But another important thing changed too:
She stopped feeling like their body was something fragile she had to constantly worry about.

That’s what strength training can provide after 50 when it’s done the right way.

A stronger baseline.

More confidence in everyday movement.

And the reassurance that progress doesn’t have to come at the expense of safety.

Many people think they need to “already be healthy enough” before they start.

The truth is: a good program meets you where you are.

If you’ve been hesitant because of pain, past injuries, or uncertainty, you’re not alone.

That’s why we offer a 14-Day “New to Strength Training” Trial—a supportive way to ease in and build confidence safely.
