It’s 5:00am.
It’s dark. You're tired. You’re comfortable.
You have two options.
1. You get out of bed. You shuffle in the dark, and lumber into the bathroom, making sure to close the door before you turn on the light so you don’t wake anyone else. You look at the reflection of the person staring back at you this morning. Sometimes you don’t like that reflection. Some days that reflection silently replays events from day before: comments, whispers, criticism. Can you ignore them?
Or
2. You hit snooze.
In those early morning hours, those are moments that separate us from the rest. Us that chose the first option get to experience the brilliant kaleidoscope of shades of red, pink and orange. We set their intensions for the day. The week. The year.
Don't hit snooze.
Even on the days when opportunities seem fleeting. When it's raining, gloomy, extra dark, the sun doesn’t hit snooze. It rises, even we can’t always see it. Its fire still burns.
On this morning, and every morning, is your fire burning? Are you voraciously moving towards a goal? A goal that you crave so much that you think about it everything night before you fall asleep and wake up craving it every morning?
Can you taste it? You better taste it.
Does it scare you? Absolutely.
Will you make mistakes? You might.
Do those mistakes define you? No.
Embrace the grind. Embrace the struggle. Chase it.
Get up.
It’s 5:01am. What did you choose?
