In our opinion, the merits of the “one high-quality sockeye charter a day” business model are numerous…
Here goes:
-Slower, more relaxed day on the water.
-Get to know your guide.
-No clock-watching, whereas ya run out of “time” before you are ready.
-A better opportunity for first-timers to learn the very unique technique required.
-More opportunity to take breaks; take photos; eat SnackleBoxes.
But mostly, AS DRIVEN HOME LAST SUMMER, a longer charter provides increased odds of attaining a decent catch for your group!
Two seasons ago… quick limits were the norm. But last year, not so much!
With the “average” sockeye counts of 2026, an 8 hr. charter was very much needed for our guides and guests.
IDK, maybe those other guides who work for Mr. Mike’s Mini-Trips” (ha ha, joke!) are just better guides than us, w/ better spots and more gifted anglers than we have. (That wb sarcasm, btw… a mere joke!)
But, to each their own, right? RIGHT?!?! Some folks want or need a 3-4 hour charter.
(Btw- the photo shown is an impressive catch which only occurred through hard work and diligence and time on the water, fishing virtually 8 hrs.)
