Yesterday was very special!

First and foremost, I got to take Mrs. EZ back bouncing; her favorite method! As well as my good buddy, Conan-one of the fishiest guys I know.

Plus, the weather was grand. Absolutely perfect!

And I got back to my roots, rowing a drift boat on the Kasilof River!

So blessed! Now, for some Advil! Yikes!

Salmon candy, is a traditional Alaskan delicacy made from strips of salmon that are cured in a sweet-and-salty brine, hot-smoked, and brushed with a sticky glaze like brown sugar or maple syrup.

Yesterday, a good pal gave Mrs. EZ and I a package of his salmon candy to sample.

Oh- my-gosh!!!! It was incredibly scrumptious; the perfect blend of hard, dry, sticky, sweet, mild protein…an honest 11 out of a 1-10 scale!

Oh btw, it was PINK salmon! Yup, Kenai River humpy!

So don’t ever tell us pinks aren’t good to eat!

Just gotta get ‘em early in the run, fish tidal areas, be very selective which ones ya harvest, and prepare them correctly!

Not every day is an EZ Limit. In fact, even the days where a boat “limits out” are rarely “easy”.

That’s ‘cause fishing is still fishing, w variables beyond human control.

Can you make good choices? Can you pay attention to detail? Can you have a great attitude and work hard and make adjustments, thereby raising your odds?

Absolutely – we do it every day!

But still- fishing is fishing, w/ the outcome being unpredictable.

Yesterday was “one of those days”… for Capt Bill, anyway.

Sure, him and his peeps experienced some action and caught some big, beautiful silver salmon… but not at the pace they had wished, nor the quantity they had hoped for.

The point? Yesterday there was NO whining. NO complaining. NO negativity!

Just fun-loving positive attitudes, all the way around, as shown in this private text back-n-forth!

So blessed, so thankful, for reasonable folks! 🙏
