☕️ FREE NUTRITION HANGOUT

After 17 years in the fitness industry, I’ve tried a lot, learned a lot, and seen what works.

Nutrition has become way more complicated than it needs to be.

This is free and open to everyone. If you have questions, come have coffee with me. That’s it.

No pitch. No program. I just want to share what I’ve learned.

📅 Saturday 9/5
⏰ 8–9am
📍 CrossFit Sun

I’m just trying to save you some money on nutrition programs. 😂 But since it’s “just nutrition,” nobody might show up… so if you’re free, at least come have coffee with me. ☕️

Back on the Health train. The best part is doing it with Caleb!

I’m also pretty frugal so everything I buy is on sale.

The cup that looks like slushie is just frozen watermelon blended with water and a little bit of honey.

No more excuses or justifications. It’s my own responsibility for my health and my child’s. I hope this motivates you to get back to it.

Also, if you want to chat nutrition, come hangout with my tomorrow, Sat 9/5 from 8-9am. Coffee ☕️ and nutrition chat. BYO Coffee. Knowing this is a nutrition chat, I’ll probably be hanging out by myself for an hour. 😅

I’ve literally tried every nutrition diet, fad, etc over the last 20 years. Let’s chat!

Getting Older Means Health is ALL that Matters

After a s**tty year and a half of “life” events, it’s time to get back to living, to thriving again. I realized that when life gets busy or stressful, we old heads turn to drinking and eating like s**t. Then we try to outsmart health by justifying our s**tty habits.

I became really into wine and bourbon, like a connoisseur to make myself feel good about drinking. Same with “being a foodie” and justify eating a lot of crap every time I was stressed… which was all the time.

It’s also funny how I justify eating poorly so I can claim it’s for optimal performance and recovery. Yes rice and carbs did help a little but who gives a f**k. Does my “performance” matter or does my health?

It’s crazy to think that every social event needed alcohol and there were more nights after work to unwind with alcohol than not. The divorce helped me snap out of this cycle really. I didn’t need alcohol, I just wasn’t happy.

I’m not going extreme and never eat delicious crappy food or stop drinking. I’m not afraid of it like it’s “going to kill me!” but it’s a big realization that I really started slipping and it’s time to stop.

I’ve had too many friends and family have health issues my age or even younger. I’ve gone through enough of this stress to know this isn’t how I want to live. Time to get back to when I started CrossFit, when fitness and nutrition was simple.

Everyday is truly something to be grateful for. I’m done wasting these days. I don’t want to survive another day, I want to thrive.

So it’s back to living a healthier life by eating real food, no sugar, no carbs outside of fruits & veggies. No more justifying or letting these vices become my addiction.

This “boring life” was the best time of my life looking back. Time to get back to that.

Anyone want to do a book club with this one? 📚

Steve Farber | Leadership Speaker has a new book coming out, and I just preordered mine.

One of the ideas that has always stuck with me from Steve:

We don’t have to change the World.
We can change our world.

Changing the big “W” World can feel impossible.

But we’re all leaders in our own world — at home, in our businesses, with our coworkers, our teams, our families, and our friends.

And we absolutely can make an impact there.

Steve’s books The Radical Leap and Greater Than Yourself have helped guide me throughout my entrepreneurial and leadership journey. His ideas around leadership, service, investing in others, and helping people become greater have stuck with me for years.

So when I saw he had a new book coming out, preordering it was an easy decision.

Keep investing in yourself.
Keep learning.
Keep improving.
Then bring it back to your world.

Who wants to read this one together and see what we can put into action?

Let’s change the world together. 🌎

You’re not getting older…

You’re losing your foundation.

Why do so many adults keep getting hurt?

Whether it’s CrossFit, HYROX, pickleball, running, basketball, hiking, or simply trying to keep up with your kids…

Most of us have spent years exercising…

…but almost no time learning how to move.

Before speed.
Before strength.
Before sport.

Build a foundation that lasts.

That’s why I created Athlete for Life—a step-by-step curriculum that helps you identify weak links, rebuild your foundation, and move with confidence again.

From chronic pain to being active. Living in fear is CRAZY

I’m currently offering FREE Athlete for Life Movement Assessments to help as many of us “older” adults live again.

There’s no workout and no obligation.

I’ll walk you through the same assessment process and questions I use with my athletes so you can better understand your body, discover what’s holding you back, and leave with tools you can use immediately.

If this resonates with you, send me a message. I’d love to help you get moving again. Whether you’re local or not, let’s chat!

It’s not easy getting older. You remember being able to do things. Who ever left these double tires in the am, thank you.

I haven’t done much box jumping, but have been on that athlete for life kick. So seeing those double tires stacked up peaked my interest 🤔. Can I jump that?

To be honest, it was kind of scary. But like I always tell my athletes, “There’s only one way to find out.”

I’m happy to hit this jump. It’s great proof of concept but also a good boost in confidence. Getting older means doing A LOT more just to be able to keep some fitness and athleticism. It makes the “boring” training worth it.

This was fun!

Climbing is a lot of Pauses(Holds) and Drop & Catches 😅.
Being able to do physical activities with my kids, a big reason for “training.”

Got a 2 week pass on Groupon for Caleb’s Bday. Anyone want to go with us next time?

I was a gym rat growing up, and honestly, it helped shape who I am today.

I want the next generation to have that same opportunity.

“Back in my day”…

The gym wasn’t filled with people staring at their phones. It wasn’t about selfies, followers, or creating content. It was a place to burn off stress, work through problems, build confidence, and learn that results are earned.

That’s what is still about.

I want students to experience that.

Usually, the biggest barriers are cost and time.

Well, the good thing about owning the gym is I can do something about both.

Our unlimited membership is normally $199/month. For high school and college students, I’ve made it just $99 for the entire summer.

Not $99 per month.

$99 for June, July, and August.

Most camps cost more than that and only last a week.

This gives students 3 full months of access to all our classes, including Saturday Barbell Club, weekday classes, coaching, mentorship, and a positive community. Plus, every hour we’re open is Open Gym.

Time isn’t the excuse anymore.

Instead of complaining about students spending all summer on their phones, I’d rather create an opportunity for them to do something different.

Something that could impact them physically, mentally, and socially for years to come.

If you know a high school or college student who could benefit from this, please share it with them.

Let’s help more young people discover a love for fitness, training, and community.

The CFS Summer Steps Challenge starts today.

And here’s where most people will mess it up…

They’re about to walk a lot more than usual with the same movement patterns that caused their aches, pains, and injuries in the first place.

Take a video of yourself walking. Point your camera straight down at your legs and feet. Watch it back.

Do your feet collapse?
Do your knees cave in?
Do you shift side to side?
Do your toes point out?
What muscles are you using on each leg?

Most people have never actually looked. No one asks theses questions for you. Instead, it’s “we can fix it” $$$….

A fancy $250 pair of shoes won’t fix the way you walk.

Stretching, foam rolling, and treatments won’t magically build weak muscles or change poor technique.

Walking is a skill.

And like any skill, if you practice it wrong thousands of times a day, don’t be surprised when your body starts complaining.

Before you chase more steps(walk, jog, run, or sprint), make sure you’re earning them with better movement.
