"I came into his life
he paved for me the way
taught me to swing a club
when to fight or walk away
He suddenly died
bowed my head, to dedicate his grave
as I blessed that hallowed ground
in my mind, I heard the sound
"Son, take care of them, especially Mom"
He wasn't there when I received
my college degree
but when I cried alone
in my cap and gown
I felt him there, on the floor
like many times before
When I kneeled at the alter
to take my wedding vows
he wasn't there
to see my bride
but I saw him there
in the mirror -
smiling by my side
When my son was born
he wasn't there, to hold him in his arms
but when my child fell asleep
there he was standing guard
keeping him from harm
When I watch my daughter
play in her match
He's not there to cheer her on
But when we stop, to celebrate, grab a lil' treat
I always sense him next to her
singing in the back seat
When I'm playing golf
with my own two boys
he's not there to tee it up
but our little th*****me
always feels like it has a fourth
On birthdays his big laugh
I often miss the most
but his spirit is always there
some call it a ghost
There's times he comes to me
as I dream in the night
to smile, show me the way
in this challenge we call life
He's always been, always be
in my corner to coach me up
its my duty to honor him
and pass his legacy on
For our bond is stronger
than this thing we call death
my dad didn't stop loving me
when he took his last breath
Familes are forever
the message rings true
especially on this Fathers Day
I know dad, I love you too." ©
