how did this so called "g style " originate ??? well a few years back I was extremely obese (let's just say fat) and why I chose to change is a different story. but how is what this "training " is all about !! In the very beginning I was going to the gym twice per day , cardio (stair master/elyptical) in the morning and weights in evening . I had no real clue of what I was doing , all I knew was p
ush as hard as I could as long as I could !! after about 5 months solid of that and I thought I was getting in decent shape ? the opportunity presented itself for me to be able to train under a great personal fight (mma) trainer (Zac Kluytenaar aka "Zues") this stage was major for me!! I learned so much and also learned I was no where near as in shape as I thought !! but training under Zac helped me in EVERY aspect of my life , still to this day I use his knowledge... after about 2 years it was time to move on (Zac remains a close friend) . the entire time I trained under Zac I continued to lift daily also .. after mma I transitioned and was able to train a bit under GURU Nate Hill in FCS Kali .. the knowledge Nate gave when having an mma base structure really opened my mind !!! The entire time I was cross training in the "arts" I continued to lift in a gym .. after a while I pretty much "ran out of weight" as the machines and conventional wisdom were no longer useful to me.... What to do ??? that was the delima I faced... so over time I "made up" many ways to manipulate the machines to do what I needed them to do for me with the amount of weight they had .. I found adding a BOSU BALL to a cable routine is a HUGE change .... all it really took is imagination to step back and think " how can I make this one machine that is designed for one thing , have the potential to work multiple desired points?" that is why if you ever see me in a gym atmosphere you will ask yourself "WHAT IS HE DOING" it looks strange but try it !! also in gyms I humbly asked many men and women who I respected , why they did such things ?? knowledge is not gained from books !!! it is gained from acquiring proven methods from those who proved it right !! Upon moving out of the gym atmosphere, I would be around friend's equipment yards (I'm from the country) and when looking around the scrap yards would see something laying around and think hey , I could use that !! ALL THIS is where "g style" came from a molten mixture of mma, Kali , conventional gym, college football , and growing up around farming ..... MIX a that together with the mentality of LESS IS MORE & even a tad more imagination ... and there it is "g style"
